Triple H presided over as the head of creative after the initial retirement of Vince McMahon in mid-2022. Following his takeover, Triple H overhauled the main roster from a creative standpoint. Furthermore, he hired several talents that were released as a part of 2020 budget cuts, including former NXT Tag Team Champion, Eric Young. However, the latter eventually requested his release from WWE.

Speaking in an interview with Haus of Wrestling, Eric Young reflected on re-signing with WWE and his subsequent release. The 43-year-old also revealed that he was still on good terms with Hunter. Talking about Triple H and his equation, Young said, “I still have a very good relationship with Hunter; I was just talking to him a couple of days ago.” (H/T ewrestling.com)

Young admitted that the main roster was the big deal. However, he wanted to stay longer with NXT. Reflecting on his main roster run, he said, “But the truth was deep in my heart I never wanted to leave in the first place. So yeah, I absolutely loved NXT. The main roster was not the same experience. It was a very poor experience, probably my least favorite out of my 30-plus years in wrestling.” (H/T ewrestling.com)

Lamenting his main roster stint, Eric Young noted that his initial run on the main roster was the worst phase of his wrestling career. The ex-WWE also confessed that he never wanted to leave NXT in the first place despite the lucrative money the main roster offers. WWE rehired Young last November. As per the original plan, he was to join Bray Wyatt. However, those plans never materialized. He eventually requested his release in April 2023.

Rey Mysterio credits Triple H for creating a good atmosphere in WWE

Vince McMahon’s departure from WWE naturally led to Triple H taking over the reins in 2022. The latter started to look after the creative aspects of the company. However, McMahon eventually clawed his way back in WWE earlier this year and started working remotely. However, after the recent UFC-WWE merger, he was forced to relinquish his creative control.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour via Fightful, Rey Mysterio commented on Triple H taking over full creative control. Mysterio said, “He was part of the roster, so he understands what we do and go through. I don’t think they could have picked a better person to take that role. He’s been doing incredible. To a certain extent, we would have times where things would be changed last minute. Right now, things are flowing very smoothly. It’s a good atmosphere.” (H/T Wrestling Headlines.com)

The 48-year-old clarified that there couldn’t be a better person than Triple H to hold sway over the creative department. This was because Hunter himself was a part of the roster at one point. Thus, he understood the nitty-gritty of running a show, per Rey Mysterio. He also noted that the flow of the show is much better since Triple H took over, citing it as a sign of a positive atmosphere.
