“Nobody saw this coming” – WWE Universe goes bonkers as Cody Rhodes wins the Undisputed Tag Team Championship with former enemy at Fastlane

WWE Fastlane kicked off with the Undisputed Tag Team Championship match. The Judgment Day pair of Finn Balor and Damian Priest defended their titles against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. After an enthralling back-and-forth encounter, the latter team shockingly defeated their opponents, overcoming the odds and becoming the Undisputed Tag Team Champions.
As expected, the live audience was molten hot for Cody and Jey. In the initial stages of the bout, The Judgment Day gained the upper hand. Afterwards, the teams exchanged their signature maneuvers but it wouldn’t be enough to pick up the victory. Main Event Jey hit a frog splash on Damian Priest, followed by a “Cody Cutter” to Balor by the American Nightmare.
Interestingly, the UCE performed a spear on Mr. Money In The Bank, the finisher of his cousin, Roman Reigns. During the latter stretches, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh arrived to help their teammates. As a result, chaos followed with Mami hitting Jey Uso with the MITB briefcase. However, the latter kicked-out to the shock of Ripley.
JD McDonagh inadvertently knocked out Damian Priest, which allowed Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso to take control. Moreover, they hit a “Cutter-1-D” tag team combination, which was followed by Cody performing “Cross Rhodes” to officially become the new Tag Team Champions.

Fastlane started off with an entertaining match. Despite many believing that The Judgment Day would retain the gold, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso overcame the odds to become the new Tag Team Champions. Along with the live crowd, the WWE Universe online couldn’t believe what just unfolded.
Some fans celebrated the American Nightmare’s first championship win since his return to the WWE in 2022. Moreover, a few took the opportunity to hilariously point out how Cody “finished the story.” All in all, it is definitely a great way to kick off the premium live event.
