Payback has delivered on the matches so far, as all wrestlers have been putting on tremendous matches. WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and Austin Theory continued the trend as they fought for the US Championship. Rey walked out with the members of LWO to a huge reaction. He continues to be a fan favorite despite being around for over two decades.

The match was a usual Mysterio affair, which meant that both wrestlers came out on the other end looking great. Austin Theory started off the match on the dominant side. He beat down Rey for the better part of the match. However, the 46-year-old turned things around when he slid down under the top rope and hit a hurricanrana on the outside.

From there, Theory could not bring in a lot of offense in the match. However, he also did not let Rey Mysterio defeat him very easily, as he kept getting in bits of offense. However, he could not stand for very long against the mind of Mysterio, as he used his experience to hit with a 619 on theory and regain his title successfully.

Rey Mysterio walked up the ramp as the other members of LWO walked down to celebrate with the Hall of Famer. Santos Escobar took Rey on his shoulders as the crowd cheered for him. It is expected that Escobar might be the next one to challenge Rey, as he has teased it several times that he wants to fight Rey for the title.

Rey Mysterio made his WWE debut in 2002. Ever since, he has been a constant for fans and wrestlers, winning multiple championships and also being in the main event of WrestleMania. Even at the age of 48, the legendary luchador continues to be as smooth as he was almost two decades ago. Fans showed their astonishment about the same after Rey’s victory.

Interestingly, fans also felt that Austin Theory’s heel run had run its course and needed a change. Therefore, fans are demanding for his face turn. Theory is one of the most prominent rising starts in WWE and so the company will look to harness his full potential. Therefore, fans will have to wait and see what plans they have for the former US Champion.
