Kurt Angle’s heel run was something that he personally disliked but gave many memorable moments to the WWE Universe. The Wrestling Machine brought those heel aspects to his persona during his promos and performances. An example of this was seen back in 2006, when Angle made some controversial statements with racial slurs and some surprising elements. It was during his backstage interview at the New Year’s Revolution pay-per-view.
Angle was set to compete in an Elimination Chamber match with five other stars for John Cena’s WWE Championship in the main event. Hence, he was interviewed by Todd Grisham backstage with his manager, Daivari, by his side. As he was asked about his further plans for his multi-person matchup, the Olympic Gold Medalist made the most contradictory statement about his hopes about the U.S. losing the war in Iraq.
The American Hero then stated his view on the greatest country in the world being France and gained agreement on it from Daivari. He further continued, stating that he was honestly, “not a big fan of the black people.” His strange comments had him stating that if he could go back in time, he would like to tap out Jesus. As his promo was shown on live TV, the crowd was heard booing him on all his statements, especially the racial comment.
As Kurt Angle concluded his controversial statements, Grisham asked him about what he was exactly speaking of. Thus, Angle gave an explanation, stating that he can say anything that he wants, as the crowd always cheers him. King Kurt stated that initially he would hear the “You suck” chants, but a few minutes into the match, they would offer him a standing ovation. He concluded by speaking about his victory in the following match against the five other pricks.

At the New Year’s Revolution pay-per-view in 2006, Kurt Angle passed on some racial and controversial comments in a backstage interview. Ahead of his Elimination Chamber match in the main event, Angle stated how he dislikes black people. This clip was recently uploaded by the WWERuthlessEra Twitter handle. As a result, the WWE Universe has reacted to this post.
Going into the match with confidence, Kurt Angle still lost his chance to secure his win. Entering the chamber at the fourth spot, Angle instantly dominated the rest of the stars. However, he was unable to break the pinfall after receiving Sweet Chin Music from Shawn Michaels.
