In the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, ‘New Day’s Kofi Kingston fought a hard-fought battle against The Viking Raider’s Ivar. The match caught everyone off guard. ‘The Viking Raiders’ have been in a bloodthirsty rivalry with The ‘New Day’ for quite a while now. Former WWE Champion Big E, who has been out of action for over a year now due to a horrific neck injury, showed love and support to his real-life best friend on X (formerly known as Twitter). The tweet came soon after Kofi defeated Ivar in a match on Raw.

They were to face each other in a tag team match under the rules of 2 out of 3 falls. However, Erik from ‘The Viking Raiders’ didn’t have medical clearance. This untimely injury resulted in Kofi and Ivar facing each other in a singles-on-one match that was under 15 minutes but arguably had the impact of a 30-minute classic.

Before tonight’s episode began, Adam Pearce informed Kofi and Xavier Woods that Erik from the ‘Viking Raiders’ didn’t have medical clearance. Excited at the prospect, the New Day assumed they could face Ivar in a 2-1 handic*p match. However, Pearce leveled the playing field by allowing a singles match against Ivar. To determine who would compete, Kofi and Xavier settled it with a friendly game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Kingston won, earning him the match against Ivar.

How The New Day became one of the greatest tag teams ever in WWE

The New Day began in 2014 when Xavier Woods formed the faction, joining forces with Kofi Kingston and Big E (formerly Big E Langston). This alliance immediately elevated all three members who were previously lost in the shuffle of the WWE roster.

The New Day

Although The New Day started as bad guys, it wasn’t long before WWE turned them into babyfaces. However, surprisingly enough, the crowd started to love and appreciate the faction’s work.

Since then, The New Day has won the Tag Titles a record seven times, solidifying their status as one of the greatest WWE tag team factions ever. Their legendary rivalry with the Usos and unwavering support for one another cement The New Day’s legacy. They are celebrated not only on-screen but also behind the scenes.
