Following an illustrious WWE career, Paul Wight (aka The Big Show) made his AEW debut in 2021. Wight’s first major appearance in AEW was at the Revolution pay-per-view on March 7, 2021, where he was revealed as the mystery signing for AEW’s new show, AEW Dark: Elevation. He was also announced as a commentator for the show alongside Tony Schiavone. In addition to his commentary role, Wight has also been involved in on-screen storylines. Moreover, Wight has made occasional appearances on AEW programming.

Ever since signing the contract with AEW, Paul Wight has competed inside the squared circle on a handful of occasions. The major reason for his competing in fewer matches is the various injuries and surgeries he had to undergo. The Big Show has not wrestled since March 2022. Wight recently addressed the injuries he had to go through during his AEW career. And also discussed his potential return on the “Deuce & Mo” podcast.

Wight said, “Working hard, training hard to get back in the ring, which will hopefully happen real soon. I’ve had a hip replacement and just got a knee replacement done in August, which sounds like the end of an athlete’s career, but modern technology, I’ll tell you, I feel better joint-wise than I’ve felt the past 15 years.

In between the speculations of his retirement, Wight is still signed with AEW. He also admitted that he can carry on his AEW and wrestling career for a little longer.

Wight stated, “Now, it’s about getting the muscle stronger and having a bit more fun. I have a couple years left in AEW, for sure, signed a nice healthy contract when I came over and I plan on making good on that contract in AEW for Tony Khan and myself.”

Fans might see Wight competing after over a year following his recovery sooner rather than later. With his possible return coming soon, it would be interesting to see what Tony Khan and AEW have in store for Wight’s final run.
