Professional wrestling has seen many devastating moments in the course of its history; during some of those moments, there have been wrestlers who tragically died in the ring as well.

Professional wrestling is a form of entertainment that has been around for decades. And it is safe to say that it has seen its fair share of tragedies. One of the most devastating events fans hear about in the world of wrestling is about wrestlers who have unfortunately passed away while competing in the ring.

Instances of wrestlers dying in the ring have occurred in different wrestling promotions around the world. Although it is a rare occurrence, it is something that can never be forgotten by fans and fellow wrestlers alike. Take a look at some of the wrestlers who lost their lives in WWE and other promotions.

1) Owen Hart

Owen Hart was a talented wrestler and a member of the famous Hart wrestling family. On May 23, 1999, Hart was set to make a dramatic entrance into the ring as his character, The Blue Blazer, was to descend from the rafters of the arena on a harness.

However, something went horribly wrong, and Hart fell 78 feet to his death in front of a live audience. The incident was a shock to the wrestling world and led to numerous safety measures being implemented in wrestling arenas. It is the biggest tragedy in WWE history, as it was the first unfortunate incident in which a wrestler lost his life inside the ring.

2) Perro Aguayo Jr.

Perro Aguayo Jr. was a Mexican wrestler who tragically died in the ring on March 21, 2015. Aguayo was taking part in a tag team match when he was hit by a dropkick by his opponent, Rey Mysterio Jr. Aguayo fell to the mat and appeared to be unconscious.

Medical personnel rushed to the ring, but Aguayo was declared dead shortly afterward. The cause of his death was revealed to be cervical spine trauma.

3) Mitsuharu Misawa

Mitsuharu Misawa was a legendary Japanese wrestler who died in the ring on June 13, 2009. Misawa was competing in a tag team match when he took a suplex from his opponent, Akitoshi Saito.

Misawa landed awkwardly on his head and neck, and he was immediately unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The cause of his death was revealed to be “Atlanto-Axial dislocation.”

4) Emilio Charles Jr.

Emilio Charles Jr. was a popular Mexican wrestler who died in the ring on October 15, 2012. Charles was taking part in a tag team match when he suddenly collapsed in the ring.

Medical personnel rushed to the ring, but Charles was declared dead shortly afterward. The cause of his death was later determined to be kidney failure.

5) Masakazu Fukuda

Masakazu Fukuda was a Japanese wrestler who died in the ring on December 12, 2000. Fukuda was wrestling in a tag team match. During the bout, he took a powerbomb from his opponent, Atsushi Onita.

Fukuda landed awkwardly on his head and neck and was immediately unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The cause of death was later revealed to be a Cerebral Hemorrhage.

6) Larry Cameron

Larry Cameron was a Canadian wrestler who died in the ring on July 13, 1993. He was also a football player and used to wrestle in WCW. Cameron was wrestling in a tag team match when he collapsed in the ring.

Medical personnel rushed to the ring, but Cameron was declared dead shortly afterward. The cause of his death was later determined to be a heart attack. Needless to say, although these wrestlers are no longer with us, their legacies will live on through their performances and contributions to the world of wrestling.
