This week’s SmackDown witnessed some pivotal moments heading forward. The show saw the return of the Phenomenal One AJ Styles. After the closing sequence of the show, WWE taped next week’s edition of SmackDown as well from Green Bay, Wisconsin. The potential spoilers for the show have been surfacing over the internet, which reveal the potential results for next week’s show.

Due to the superstars going on holiday for Christmas next week, WWE took the decision to tape the next episode beforehand. After an iconic SmackDown this week, next week’s show featured megastars like AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and LA Knight. Also, the spoilers reveal the results for the United States Championship tournament as well. Here are the results for the December 22 edition of SmackDown.

1) Santos Escobar vs. Bobby Lashley (United States Championship Contenders Tournament)

WWE advertised this match for next week’s SmackDown. Therefore, during the tapings, Santos Escobar and Bobby Lashley collided to determine the finalist of the tournament. The two stars had a remarkable match which had slow pacing at the start. However, after a back-and-forth action Santos Escobar came out victorious.

Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo played a vital role in helping Escobar secure his win. Santos won the match and advanced to the tournament finals. Escobar looked confident, as he had been claiming for a long time. Moreover, Humberto and Garza on his side made him even more powerful.

2) Dragon Lee vs. Butch (NXT North American Championship)

Ever since Dragon Lee won the NXT North American Championship last week, he has promised the WWE Universe to be a defending champion. As WWE announced this week that Lee will be facing Brawling Brutes member Butch on the following SmackDown, the two stars faced each other on the tapings. In an incredible match-up, Dragon Lee secured a win.

The two stars showed off their wrestling skills. However, as per the fans on social media, the WWE Universe had limited interaction during the match, which made it a sleeper contest. It is going to be interesting to see the reign of Dragon Lee as he has become a fan favorite.

3) AJ Styles promo

After a shocking return, AJ Styles delivered a bold promo. He was seen wearing an all-black outfit, teasing a new layer in his character. The Phenomenal One talked about his differences with LA Knight and Randy Orton. Moreover, he expressed his anger against the Bloodline, which led to him claiming himself as the one to face Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble.

Knight and Orton interrupted Styles, which led to the three having an argument. SmackDown GM Nick Alids rushed to the ring to make a triple threat match between the three stars for the New Year’s Revolution edition of SmackDown, where the winner would face the Tribal Chief at Royal Rumble.

4) Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vega, and Michin vs. Damage CTRL

After weeks of having trouble with Damage CTRL, Bianca Belair, Shotzi, Zelina Vega, and Michin finally faced Damage CTRL in an eight-woman tag team match. The baby face team picked up a win after a grueling match-up. There were no significant spots during the match.

The babyface team entered the match on a Christmas-inspired tank with Merry Christmas chants from the crowd. The match had its playful moments. However, at one point in the contest, Kairi Sane was attacked by Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, which is sure to set up a potential feud in the coming weeks.

5) Kevin Owens vs. Carmelo Hayes (United States Championship Contenders Tournament)

Carmelo Hayes and Kevin Owens collided in a first-time marquee match-up. The two stars delivered an outstanding bout where Kevin Owens captured the win and advanced to the finals. Although fans had high hopes for Hayes to win the tournament, he suffered a defeat in his second match on the main roster.

Kevin Owens is all set to face Santos Escobar the following week on SmackDown. It looks at the moment that Kevin Owens might win the tournament. However, the stock of Santos Escobar has been all-time high. It is going to be interesting to see the outcome of the United States contender tournament in the upcoming weeks.

6) AJ Styles vs. Solo Sikoa

After AJ Styles made it clear in his promo earlier on the show that he is not settled with the Bloodline. As Solo Sikoa attacked AJ a couple of months ago which resulted in him getting injured for almost three months. Therefore, he got a match against Sikoa. The two stars had a physical battle, which resulted in Styles picking up a disqualification win after Roman Reigns attacked him.

An attack on Styles led to a brawl between the Bloodline and the other superstars, including Randy Orton and LA Knight as well. The chaotic brawl saw LA Knight standing tall to close out the show. Although it will be interesting to see how WWE pans out the show after it goes live next week.
