“Fans in the locker room!” Grayson Waller takes a cheeky dig over his NXT Stand & Deliver opponent

The WWE Universe was all happy and gleeful for the returning NXT superstar Johnny Gargano at this week's NXT Roadblock. However, his Stand & Deliver opponent shared some unpleasant thoughts about him.

After losing his multiple shots at the NXT title, Grayson Waller took out his frustration on Shawn Michaels. As a result, the Hall of Famer brought out a fitting opponent for the NXT superstar this past week in Johnny Gargano. Now the NXT superstar has hit back, sharing an old photo of his rivals on social media.

While taking to Twitter, Grayson Waller posted a photo from 2021 of NXT’s Creative head Shawn Michaels and Johnny Gargano. The latter was seen wearing HBK-inspired gear for one of his matches at TakeOver. Waller accompanied the photo with a tweet, “Wrestling hasn’t been the same since they started letting fans in the locker room”

Gargano has admitted in the past that he is a big fan of Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The former NXT Champion has also been called “Mr. TakeOver” before. This is of course very similar to Shawn Michaels being called “Mr. WrestleMania” back in the day. While his love for HBK is no secret, Grayson Waller’s amusing dig is just a way to further their rivalry.

Grayson Waller had recently been feuding with Shawn Michaels on NXT TV. Moreover, he even invited the WWE Hall of Famer to “The Grayson Waller Effect” this week at NXT Roadblock. However, when he challenged the Heartbreak Kid for a match, he was met with a returning Johnny Gargano instead. The former NXT Champion received a great pop and welcome from the crowd at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

In his last NXT appearance, Johnny Gargano was written off the show when he suffered a beatdown from Grayson Waller in December 2021. At the time, Gargano’s WWE contract had expired, and he took some time off from wrestling. The NXT Triple Crown Champion soon made his return to the WWE main roster, signing another deal with the company. However, Gargano hasn’t forgotten about the beatdown from Grayson Waller and picked up this loose thread on NXT Roadblock this past week.

On the other hand, Grayson Waller has had some high-profile matches in NXT. He has wrestled in the NXT WarGames match and also against superstars like AJ Styles and LA Knight. The 32-year-old even won the inaugural Iron Survivor Challenge in December last year. However, he lost the subsequent title match against Bron Breakker at NXT New Year’s Eve when the middle rope snapped and he was counted out.

After a few weeks, Waller got his rematch at NXT Vengeance Day, this time competing inside a Steel Cage. The Australian native came up short once again and tried to vent out his anger on Shawn Michaels. Despite being without any titles in NXT, Grayson Waller has shown much promise in the ring. This is why his upcoming match against Johnny Gargano at NXT Stand and Deliver would be a great one for the fans.
