“I love it,” 35-year-old superstar comments on the extremely hostile Montreal crowd for Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber

Over the years, there have been very few superstars who have made the Intercontinental Championship look prestigious. One such name that has raised the bar is the current Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. The Ring General has been dominating the midcard division with his phenomenal title reign. However, the crowd utterly despises him every time, which is inevitable for a person carrying a heel.

The Intercontinental Champion Gunther appeared on WWE’s The Bump show. He was asked about how it feels to be in a similar spot to Roman Reigns, where the crowd boos him and desperately wants him to lose. Gunther said that he loves it and enjoys the situation. The Intercontinental Champion takes it as a challenge to overcome the overwhelming atmosphere. “I gotta say, yeah, I love it. It’s a very enjoyable situation for me, I gotta say, and if I look at Montréal, what a heartbreak at the end. And yeah, I enjoyed it.[…],” he said.

Besides, Gunther commented on Roman’s victory and said that nobody could ever take away what he had done. He added that despite immense pressure on such a grand stage, he still emerged victorious. Furthermore, the Ring General praised the Tribal Chief for the records and achievements he established. However, he said that it was heartbreaking for the crowd in Montreal. The fans at Bell Center faced disappointment when their hometown hero lost to Reigns in the match.

However, Matt Camp also asked him about how he feels about Roman Reigns and his title reign. To this, the Intercontinental Champion said whatever Roman has done so far is phenomenal. Moreover, he admired Reigns and referred to his title as “impressive.” According to him, the fact that he has been the champion since 2020 says it all. Roman Reigns has been invincible and surpassing records ever since winning the title. Therefore, Gunther said that it would be interesting to see where it goes.

Gunther’s road to WrestleMania 39

Ever since winning the Intercontinental Championship in June last year, he has been on a sublime reign. Besides, Gunther has inscribed his name on the list as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion. The WWE Universe believes that he has been unstoppable as a champion. Furthermore, during his reign as champion, The Ring General delivered some of the most brutal matches on the roster. Gunther has established himself as the quintessential tough guy of the WWE in recent times.

WrestleMania 39 is just a month away, and the direction of Gunther is still in the balance. There were rumours circulating a few months ago that he would face Brock Lesnar at the Show of Shows. However, it looks like WWE is not going in that direction. According to recent rumors, The Ring General may face Sheamus and Drew McIntyre in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 39.

The WWE Universe believes this might be the match that would still be on the show. Moreover, they believe if it happens, it will be one helluva match. However, the direction for the Intercontinental Championship is still obscure. It looks like WWE might be looking to build up a possible storyline in the upcoming episodes of SmackDown.
