The championships often feature on premium live events as they defend their titles on the show. However, one of the superstars, who despite being a champion, has not competed in a PLE for more than 100 days. The name in question is the current Intercontinental Champion, Gunther.
However, his undesirable streak will come to an end on November 25. Gunther will defend his Intercontinental title against The Miz at Survivor Series in Chicago. The Ring will finally compete at a premium live event after months. Fans are delighted to hear this, as they are expecting a great battle between Gunther and Miz.
On the October 30, 2023, edition of Monday Night Raw, Gunther and Miz engaged in a war of words. Miz challenged the champion for a match, but the latter denied it by saying he was not on his level. Miz immediately proved him wrong the next week by winning the Fatal 4-way match against Ricochet, Bronson Reed, and Ivar to become the No. 1 contender for Gunther’s coveted title.
The Ring General has no shortage of opponents, as he is grabbing the eyes of every challenger. He has found a credible opponent in the Miz, as he is an 8-time Intercontinental champion by his record. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the Survivor Series.
Gunther used some harsh words for Bret Hart and Ultimate Warrior
The Ring General is certainly not a fan of WWE legends Bret Hart and Ultimate Warrior. He made some bold comments on them during his appearance on WWE’s The Bump. The 36-year-old was asked to rate the previous WWE superstars who held the Intercontinental title. When the picture of Bret Hart came on the screen, he did not hold back.
He was a big superstar in Germany and Austria, but as Ludwig said before, I don't forget and that man sat at my match in Cardiff and he was not mentioning nice things after that, so he's not going to get anything nice of me.Gunther on Bret Hart
After that, Gunther went off on the Ultimate Warrior and disregarded him. The Ring General said that he was just a showman and not a real professional wrestler. It looks like Gunther was maintaining an on-screen persona, as he is a heel superstar in WWE.
He's not the greatest of all time. He is just a showman, he's not an athlete. Now everybody knows why I had to be the one to keep this title for the longest time in history to wash its reputation clean.Gunther on The Ultimate Warrior
The Ring General held his heel persona as he berated the wrestling legends in the interview. It will be exciting to see if anyone will be able to beat Gunther or if the champion will continue his dominant run.
