Brock Lesnar is easily one of the biggest stars in the company. He draws the biggest paycheck, and it’s always exciting to see Brock on Tv. Not only in WWE, Lesnar is easily the biggest name in combat sports history. Another name that’s built a reputation for itself in pro wrestling around the world is Gunther (FKA Walter). Gunther’s style is reminiscent of old-school technical prowess.
Off late Gunther has built up quite an impressive run for himself. He’s on the longest IC championship reign of the 21st century. He was the runner-up of 2023’s men’s rumble after starting at number 1. Last, but not least, the matches he had at Clash at the Castle and WrestleMania were absolute bangers. It’s safe to say that having Gunther in a match is a guarantee banger at this point.
Recently, a lot of speculation has been doing the rounds that suggest Brock Lesnar and Gunther might face off this year in the summer.
The rumor has had fans gaga. A lot of people expected this to happen at WrestleMania. But Brock got into a program with Omos, which was bland, and Gunther had another banger with Sheamus and McIntyre.
This storyline would do both men a world of good. Brock Lesnar hasn’t had a really significant rivalry since Roman Reigns. His rivalry with Bobby Lashley was highly anticipated and had all the elements to be a game-changer if booked right. But it wasn’t. It fell flat on its face with a DQ finish and Bobby Lashley being suddenly thrust into a rivalry with Bray Wyatt. Which never transpired into a match.
It’s been a while since Brock Lesnar had a technical match. People tend to forget that Brock is an amateur wrestling champion, so a match with someone like Gunther might be exactly what Brock needs. Gunther has a great in-ring track record around the world. He made the IC title feel really relevant.
The Ring General put Sheamus back into relevance with their epic rivalry. If allowed to have a substantial amount of time on the card of a major PLE, say SummerSlam, these 2 can put on an absolute show. It will help establish Gunther as a formidable opponent.

How will WWE book Gunther vs Brock Lesnar?
With how things are right now, Gunther does not seem to have an opponent for WrestleMania Backlash. The last time fans saw Gunther, he was in a six-man tag against The Brawling Brutes. Brock Lesnar is set to face Cody Rhodes at Backlash after he surprisingly laid him out on RAW last week.
How they build up this storyline would be really interesting to see. This has all the ingredients for the match of the year, with the only limitation being the hope that WWE’s creative team doesn’t mess it up.
