“I don’t have a list for that, but let’s say…..” : Gunther wants a high-profile program against Roman Reigns in WWE
Gunther vs. Roman Reigns is a sure-shot dream match
The longest reigning NXT UK Champion in history and current Intercontinental Champion Gunther wants a piece at the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Just imagine what would a showdown between these two powerhouses would mean if they actually do end up facing each other in a ring. Now you don’t need any kind of introduction about Gunther’s brutality when it comes to in-ring shenanigans as he have had some of the most physical matches wrestling industry has ever seen competing at NXT UK. Some of his best fights came up against Ilja Dragunov and Tyler Bate.
After spending much of his time in UK, he moved to WWE NXT for a short period alongside Imperium where the group had a dominant showing once again. The time for his official main-roster arrival finally came on Smackdown after Wrestlemania this year where he made quick work of a local competitor Joe Alonzo in bare minutes. Shortly after cleaning his hands over smaller threats, he then moved onto the main course and entered a program with Ricochet for the Intercontinental Championship.
On the June 10th edition of Friday Night Smackdown, he defeated the high-flying machine Ricochet in a grueling encounter and with this win he captured his first major title in WWE. In a recent interview with WittyWhittier, the reigning Intercontinental Champion was asked about any particular superstar he would love to have a program with and he replied with a not so of an interesting statement saying he doesn’t have a list of that but he sure had mentioned Roman Reigns’ name in particular.
With Triple H now running up creative, the talents are now given more freedom to express themselves in front of the management and even pitch ideas for their creative direction. Considering this thing in mind, we may do end up seeing Gunther vs. Reigns somewhere down the road in future.
Gunther retained his Intercontinental Title last week on Smackdown
The prestigious work-rate title was on the line last week on Smackdown with the Champion Gunther putting his gold on the line against Shinsuke Nakamura. The match was a fairly good one with both superstars showcasing their wide arsenal during the fight. After going back and forth for 15 minutes, the Chop master Gunther powerbombed Nakamura for the win. We just now have to wait and see what WWE has in store for him next.
