As of today, Edge is officially a free agent after his contract with WWE expires. The Rated R superstar worked his last televised match against Sheamus in his hometown of Toronto. It also marked his 25th anniversary in WWE. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer, Kurt Angle, commented on the rumors of Edge allegedly debuting on AEW.
Speaking on his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show via Inside The Ropes, Angle opined that he does not believe Edge will jump the ship from WWE to the Jacksonville-based promotion. The wrestling veteran substantiated his argument by asserting that Edge had been a stalwart WWE guy for the entirety of his wrestling career.
“I think Edge is loyal to WWE. He’s been loyal since day one. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of other wrestlers have crossed over, especially his best friend and kind of brother, Christian, but I just don’t see Edge doing that. I really believe he’s going to be WWE for life,” said the Olympic Gold Medalist. Thus, he strongly believes that Edge will never do business with another company besides WWE.
Rumors and speculations are rife that Edge will make his AEW debut at the upcoming PPV WrestleDream on October 1. Furthermore, the latest confirmation of his real-life best friend Christian Cage headlining the PPV with Darby Allin lends additional weight to the rumors. The wrestling community is waiting with bated breath to see whether Edge makes his debut on AEW today to join forces with his long-time tag team partner and buddy, Christian.
Kurt Angle credits the Impact’s Knockouts Division over WWE for spearheading Women’s Revolution in the American wrestling industry
Whenever the fans hear the term, “Women’s Revolution”, they immediately identify the moment with WWE. Even the company accredits itself for revolutionizing women’s wrestling, even though it took decades for WWE to improve the status of its women’s division. In the aforementioned podcast, Kurt Angle recounts how the Knockouts of the Impact Wrestling were way ahead of their time during his tenure with the promotion.
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Hall of Famer heaped praise on the Knockouts of Impact Wrestling. He further claimed that the Knockouts of TNA were, in fact, in the vanguard of the women’s revolution, way ahead of WWE, by putting out exceptional storylines and matches.
“Our Knockouts Division was really good, we had a lot of talented girls. The Knockouts, they actually were the frontier of the women’s division getting serious. Even more quicker than WWE did. The Knockouts is when everybody started taking women’s wrestling seriously,” said the wrestling veteran. Some of the most notable names of the TNA Knockouts division include several former WWE superstars, such as Mickie James, Gail Kim, Victoria, Awesome Kong. They are often ascribed to changing people’s perception of women’s wrestling in Impact Wrestling. (H/T Inside The Ropes)
