REPORT: WWE making up huge plans for the 30th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw
WWE Raw in Manhattan Centre
On January 11, 1993, WWE produced the first ever episode of their flagship program, Monday Night Raw. The show came up as a replacement to Prime Time Wrestling which was running on the USA Network from past 8 years. Today, this show is one of the most popular televised content among the wrestling community.
Well, the red brand will complete it’s 30 years of existence this coming January 11th and celebrations should happen. According to WrestleVotes, plans are still being cooked up for the special episode next year. It was being planned to held at the Manhattan Centre, venue for first ever Raw.
However, the case for the event to be there was considered under the previous regime and there is no concrete evidence whether it still stands upright. We’ll keep you updated if there’s an update on this situation. As things stand right now, at least a dedicated episode is definitely on the table to commemorate 30 years of the show.
About five years ago, back in January 2017, WWE celebrated the 25 years of Monday Night Raw and the atmosphere was just electric. That time also, the promotion decided to split up the festivities between The Manhattan Centre and the Barclays Centre. No one just can’t deny what importance does Manhattan holds for WWE in particular.
What has been the state of Monday Night Raw recently?
The 8-11pm programming on USA Network was experiencing a serious interest downgrade on Monday nights. The major cause for the decline were the wacky antics of people running the older administration in WWE. Vince McMahon was troubling his own creation, possibly unknowingly due to his age factor and fans weren’t happy about the terrible state of Monday Night Raw.
Well, things changed unbelievably as Vince announced his retirement from this business stepping down from all his duties for this company. Triple H was shortly after announced as the new creative lead of WWE and since then, the game has changed the “Game” for Raw. Actually, Smackdown has also shown fair improvement, Monday Night Raw hasn’t been this better in years as it’s right now.
On a concluding note, we all know that this show is an important metabolic activity for wrestling diehards. The new regime of WWE is pulling out all stops in our favours trying to grab their lost viewership. Company’s current success in ticket sales and record breaking social media engagements are just there to prove that things are changing for good.
