“I was thinking about my LIFE again”- Iyo Sky reveals the reason why she almost quit WWE and thought of leaving the country

Iyo Sky is one of the most talented wrestlers in the women’s roster as of now. Sky has been wrestling since 2007 and is known for her time World Wonder Ring Stardom, where she was a two-time world of stardom Champion. Iyo Sky is an experienced wrestler, having wrestled in Japan and Mexico for various promotions and has made a name for herself. Sky has been praised for her in ring ability and is a decent mouth runner. Iyo Sky was signed to WWE in 2017 and made her debut at NXT TakeOver: War Games in 2018.
Iyo Sky made her in-ring debut in a December 2018 edition of NXT, where she teamed up with Dakota Kai to defeat Duke and Shafir in a tag match. During her time at NXT, she established herself as a Fan Favorite and won the NXT Women’s Championship once when she defeated Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley at the NXT TakeOver: In Your House event. She also won the NXT Tag team Championship once with Zoey Stark and has been the winner of Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament.
Iyo Sky revealed that she had to be on wheelchair and Crutch after her injury
In April 2022, Iyo Sky competed in a match for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship, the match also included Cora Jade and Kay Lee Ray. Rose retained the title at the event and Sky had suffered an injury during the match after which she was out of action until her return at SummerSlam 2022. During an interview with Tokyo Sports Iyo Sky has revealed how horrific the injury was.
Sky claimed that as she soared for the Moonsault outside the ring against Kay Lee Ray, she landed on the announcer’s table and injured her right ankle, requiring surgery. She also disclosed that she now has a bolt in place to secure the bone and that she couldn’t put any weight on her right leg for approximately a month, forcing her to use a crutch and a wheelchair. Iyo Sky stated that it took three months for her to be able to bear full weight on the leg.
Iyo Sky also revealed that she was thinking of leaving the company and had plans to return to Japan, where she has her family. She also said that it was a tough time for her during the injury as she came to the States 4 years ago and doesn’t have any family here, thereby thinking of leaving the company and going back to Japan.
“Yeah. I’ve been here four years. I came here by myself. I don’t have family here and that time is so tough. I tried to think, should I stay here more or not. I got injured and after surgery, that time was thinking about my life again.”
Iyo Sky is now a part of the Stable formed by Bayley, which is now termed as “DAMAGE CTRL.” She, along with Bayley and Dakota Kai will face Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka at the Clash at the Castle live event.
