This week’s Raw had a major title change in the pipeline. That would’ve seen Jey Uso end Gunther‘s 600-day+ Intercontinental title reign. However, the fans saw how it panned out. Just when Jey was on the precipice of history, his twin-brother Jimmy snatched it away. However, as per WrestleVotes, people backstage in WWE were under the impression that ‘Main Event’ Jey was set to upstage The Ring General last night.
Moreover, as of 6 p.m. in the evening, that was the direction on various rundowns within creative and digital departments. The outlet also added that they hope to delve into the story further tomorrow. This raises a lot of questions. Had Jey won, would’ve he still gone on to battle Jimmy Uso at WrestleMania? And what ramifications it must’ve had on Gunther, who’s been unstoppable for nearly a couple of years now.
Speaking of how Jey was bereaved from winning his first singles title in WWE, his own blood came in his way. The Yeet Master had Gunther in his palms after he executed an Uso Splash with authority. However, someone started ringing the bell placed in the timekeeper’s area. And that was none other than Jimmy Uso. The fans were baffled and so was Jey, who succumbed to Gunther.
After the match, Jimmy sat on Jey and yelled that no matter how much the latter has accomplished, Jim will always be the older brother. The fans thought that the ending sequence was predictable after what was a physical affair between an ex-Bloodline member and the Imperium leader. With that win, the Austrian could march on to WrestleMania as the Intercontinental Champion.
Jey Uso’s inevitable clash against Jimmy Uso seems likely for WrestleMania
With what went down between Jey and Jimmy Uso on Raw, it’s obvious that they’ll have a match, presumably at WrestleMania. It all began at SummerSlam last year when Jey Uso locked horns with Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Just when the end seemed near for The Tribal Chief, Jimmy, sporting a black hoodie, betrayed Jey. That allowed Reigns to retain the title. And following that, Jimmy was reinstated into The Bloodline. The Usos have had occasional collisions on WWE television since The Biggest of the Summer.
However, last night’s angle was the final nail in the coffin. WWE has stuck to its original plan of pitting the Samoan brothers against each other. Due to his actions, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce has also imposed a heavy fine on Jimmy Uso.
