Jim Ross and Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar is one of the most fearless and dominating figures to have ever stepped in the squared circle. Lesnar has a distinctive move set in the ring that has allowed him to be destructive. Although Brock wasn’t always effective on the mic, he has improved since making his second comeback to WWE. Brock Lesnar has excelled since his WWE debut and has engaged in epic feuds with legends like The Rock, Kurt Angle, and Hulk Hogan. Brock is also the youngest WWE Champion in the history of WWE.
After Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a winner takes all match at WrestleMania this year, Brock took a two-month hiatus from work before making a recent comeback to face The Tribal Chief. He returned to WWE on June 17th edition of SmackDown. He delivered an F-5 to Roman and his cousins that night. The next day WWE announced that he would face The Tribal Chief in a last man standing match at SummerSlam.

Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship for the second time at WrestleMania 19
In 2003, Brock Lesnar was involved in a long feud with Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship. Kurt Angle had won the Championship in December 2002 at Armageddon by defeating Big Show. Lesnar had set eyes on the Championship since his lost to Big Show at the Survivor Series 2002. On March 6th 2003 edition of SmackDown Brock Lesnar defeated Paul Heyman in a Steel Cage match to earn a WWE Championship match against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 19.
At the Event, Kurt countered Brock’s F-5 attempt with an ankle lock, but the latter was able to escape from the hold. As Brock Lesnar made his way away, Kurt would deliver an Angle Slam for a near fall. Towards the end of the match, Lesnar delivered an F-5 to Angle but the latter managed to kick out.
Brock then delivered another F-5 to him, but instead of going for the pinfall, he attempted a shooting star press but failed to execute a proper Shooting Star Press on Kurt and landed on his head and neck. Brock then attempted for the pinfall but Kurt kicked out, He then delivered a third F-5 to Kurt angle to win the match.
Brock Lesnar suffered a concussion as a result of the botched Shooting Star press. Through the years Brock Lesnar has revealed that during his first run in WWE in 2003, he allegedly drank a bottle of vodka a day and consumed hundreds of Vicodin tablets each month to alleviate the anguish brought on by the wear and strain on his body. Brock has said that he developed addictions to both alcohol and narcotics. Brock has indicated the botched shooting star press during WrestleMania XIX as a specific source of agony.
Recently, while speaking on his own Podcast Grilling JR, Jim Ross spoke about Brock’s botched Shooting Star Press, He said that the shooting star press was unnecessary and that Brock should not have tried it in the first place. Jim Ross stated that Brock Lesnar didn’t need to do the Shooting Star Press since he could have defeated Angle in other ways without jeopardizing his career.
“I don’t need to see a 300-pound man doing a Shooting Star Press, and when he did it at WrestleMania XIX, I was pissed,” Ross said. “Why do it? It’s a spot. That’s all it is, and a guy that’s a national champion should be able to convincingly beat his adversary in various ways without risking his godd*amn career.”
Kurt Angle recently admitted that the shooting star press was his idea after seeing Brock Lesnar do it so brilliantly during his OVW days. Angle also said that it was supposed to be the finish of the match and that when Brock landed on his head everybody was in shock.
