Raw Day One was full of excitement. Most notably, the segment that became the highlight of the night involved the role of The Modern Day Maharaja, Jinder Mahal. It seems the former WWE Champion has been so seething after the disrespect delivered to him by The Rock that he has decided to challenge him.
Mahal was recently interviewed by Sony Sports Network’s WWE Super Dhamaal. The former WWE Champion brought a smiling face to an embarrassing topic. He explained how he exuded confidence while confronting The Brahma Bull, which has made several headlines for the sports media across the globe.
"I was feeling confident. I had The Rock, I had his confidence choked. I want to issue a challenge to The Rock. Anytime in India, you can step up to The Modern Day Maharaja."Jinder Mahal on his confrontation with The Rock
If The Rock decides to accept the challenge, then the fans will see Mahal finally in action after an absence of around 292 days! Additionally, Mahal went on to specify how keeping an unshakeable confidence was an incredible feat. The hostile environment of Raw Day One in San Diego because of an initial disheartening reveal of Mahal as the returning former WWE Champion, coupled with the insults he raised against them, had made them oppose him unison.
The return of the Brahma Bull seemed to have granted them the savior. The People’s Champ, Mahal believed, was at a loss for words against his logical statements. However, the Spinebuster and the People’s Elbow turned the tides as the People’s Champ “whooped his candy a**.”
Backstage news on why WWE hasn’t announced The Rock’s appearances
The Rock has been delivering some iconic surprises over the past few months. It seems The Brahma Bull has been itching to bring the Boots to A*ses as he interrupted Austin Theory back in September 2023 and has now added the name of Jinder Mahal to the list.
As those appearances caused a massive upsurge in ratings, critics feel that announcing them would’ve worked well for WWE. However, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, despite being a businessman, The Rock doesn’t care much for the ratings but for the reactions he receives.
"I mean, the rating would have been much higher, much higher than it was. He was doing it because in that case, he wanted that pop because of people in the building not knowing he was going to be there. And there he is. That’s what he wants."Dave Meltzer on WWE not announcing The Rock’s return
Additionally, Meltzer noted that this will be the formula for the time being. There will be teases, which could always be turned otherwise in case The Great One bails out. However, with him teasing a much-awaited rivalry with The Head of the Table, it feels like the WWE Universe will be seeing more of him in the upcoming months.
Even The Rock seems shaken by the dramatic response he received. His latest social media posts are dedicated to expressing his gratitude. What also remains noteworthy is that he dropped a small teaser by writing “more to come” in one of his recent posts on Instagram. Time holds the answer to when the Great One might again choose to surprise his fans.
