The shocking demise of Bray Wyatt is being grieved by the wrestling world. Windham Rotunda passed away due to a heart attack after suffering from COVID-19 earlier this year, leading to complications in the heart. Fans and wrestlers have mourned the loss of one of the most creative minds in the business. Recently, John Cena penned an emotional message for Bray Wyatt.
“Devastated by the news of the passing of Windham Rotunda, My heart goes out to the entire Rotunda family,” wrote the Cenation leader on his X account. Furthermore, he revealed that the third-generation superstar brought out the best in him. John Cena expressed his gratitude for the moments he shared with Bray Wyatt. “A sad day for all those he reached around the world. RIP,” he wrote, sending a heartfelt tribute to his former rival.
The 16-time World Champion played an influential role in the upliftment of Bray Wyatt. Both superstars squared off at WrestleMania 30 in what was the Eater of Worlds’ first match at the spectacle. Despite losing, the latter showcased his in-ring ability and mic skills, impressing several members of the WWE Universe.
Six years later, they met again at the Grandest Stage of Them All. But this time it was different, with a new persona, “The Fiend,” taking on the legend. Moreover, it was the first-ever Firefly Funhouse match, which was a cinematic bout. The well-received segment became many fans’ favorite moment from that year’s WrestleMania.

The Firefly Funhouse match was one of John Cena’s favorite bouts
John Cena has competed in several high-caliber matches throughout his career. He has faced the likes of Edge, Randy Orton, and The Rock at the Showcase of The Immortals. However, during an interview with 92NY a few months ago, he named the Firefly Funhouse match against Bray Wyatt as the most rewarding feud.
“Which was a giant exercise in vulnerability. I worked my a** off on that thing, and I thank everyone who was involved, because no one does it alone, but it was kind of my brainchild and my creation,” revealed the legend. Furthermore, he referred to the entire experience as a “public look in the mirror.”
Obviously, the entire rivalry during the WrestleMania 36 build-up was underwhelming. However, the cinematic battle more than made up for it. The Fiend basically tore through the egoistic road of John Cena’s journey, including “burying” superstars and refusing to turn heel on several occasions.
