One just never knows who may show up on Raw after WrestleMania. And this year, it was John Cena‘s turn. He arrived just in time to join R-Truth and The Miz as they went up against Judgment Day’s Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh in a 2-on-3 handicap match. Once he received that hot tag from The A-Lister, the place went berserk. Cena and company didn’t take long to fend off the villainous trio.

The match ended with the babyfaces executing the Attitude Adjustment in tandem on all three of their foes. With that being said, John Cena kept his streak alive of competing in at least a single WWE match every year since his debut in 2002. However, as the fans must’ve realized, it was a one-night wonder. The post-Mania fervor, coupled with the WWE icon being in Philly for the ‘Mania weekend, allowed Cena to get the ball rolling.

As confirmed Monday afternoon on The Pat McAfee Show, he has numerous filming projects lined up for the rest of 2024. That would automatically drive him away from the squared circle for the time being. The Cenation Leader is also slated to begin shooting for the second season of Peacemaker this June. It’s expected to be done by November.

And just as he alluded to on McAfee’s talk show, there’s a glimmer of hope that John will return to WWE in the new year for that one last run of his. The Ricky Stanicky actor is looking to wrap up his in-ring career before he turns 50. Given the fact that he’ll be 47 later this month, Cena doesn’t have the leverage to prolong it any further.

John Cena had a memorable run-in at WrestleMania XL

This past Sunday at WrestleMania XL, John Cena made his presence felt. During the main event featuring Roman Reigns‘ title defense against Cody Rhodes, The Franchise Player had a cameo of his own. He ran down that aisle to nullify Solo Sikoa‘s meddling and eventually succeeded.

However, his exploits were mitigated by The Rock. Despite eating up a Rock Bottom, the 16-time World Champion had the last laugh as Rhodes indeed finished the story by dethroning Reigns.

After the match, The Prototype took a moment to let Cody know that he’d need to bear the weight of carrying the Undisputed WWE Championship every single day.

Cena hoped that in a year or two from now, The Prodigal Son would’ve gone up a notch while being in the conversation of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
