John Cena will turn 47 by April of this year, and he’s having a really tough time figuring out when to hang up his wrestling boots for good. Even though he’s not officially retired from in-ring competition at this point, Cena’s alluded to the fact that he doesn’t have much time left in there. Recently, while speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the 46-year-old revealed the place he’d love to wrestle his last match.
The Peacemaker star said he might not have the authority to determine who he would like to face. However, he put the fans in the United Kingdom at the top of the list. More specifically, John spoke about how the folks over there in London are vocal. The Cenation Leader chose the O2 Arena as a haven perfectly suited for him to call it a day. The 16-time World Champion was there at the O2 back at Money in the Bank last year.
He made a surprise appearance and was shortly interrupted by Grayson Waller. The two had quite a back-and-forth in front of a raucous batch of fans in London. In the same segment, Cena brought up bringing WrestleMania to London, and the building erupted in unison. While that remains a matter of discord, Cena putting his heart out on live television has to mean something.
Fans in the UK, WWE fans, they’re the best & fans in London specifically they will let you know how they feel & I don’t think I’ll be able to choose my opponent but if I could choose a venue it’d be the O2 in London.John Cena via ET
The Franchise Player returned to WWE for a two-month-long sojourn last year in September. As the SAG-AFTRA strike was still going on back then, Cena saw it as an opportunity to spend some time with WWE. He interacted with numerous faces in the meantime and bowed out after losing to Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel.
Randy Orton has declared John Cena as his dream match opponent
There are a ton of opponents who could face John Cena in his last WWE match. However, the fans are hoping to avoid seeing their all-time favorite continue his losing streak by putting over a younger talent.
Recently, while speaking on The Bump, Randy Orton was asked what would be his dream match scenario. In a response that would make any wrestling fan excited, Orton name-dropped Cena.
The Viper said he’d love to see himself wrestle John Cena for the WWE Championship at The Biggest Stage of them all. It could become a reality, as both Cena and Orton have been lifelong on-screen rivals. There may not be a more fitting way for The Cenation Leader to end his in-ring career.
