John Cena looks back on the days when he accused The Rock of abandoning WWE for a Hollywood career
WWE wrestlers making a jump to Hollywood is not an anomalous phenomenon. Several superstars in the past have endeavored to launch a Hollywood acting career. The Rock and John Cena are two of the biggest stars from WWE to bridge the gap between the two industries seamlessly. Cena shed light on his decade-old remarks on The Rock at the recent WWE Fastlane press conference.
During the lead-up to The Rock vs. Cena WrestleMania 28, the latter accused The Great One of ditching WWE for an acting career. Reflecting back on the promo, Cena recently said, “I violated his trust and I made allegations about his perspective that I knew nothing about. And deep down, I was a fan. I wanted The Rock back,I wanted to do anything to get The Rock back, but I did it the wrong way. I didn’t do it the respectful way, so I had to eat a little bit of crow, I had to say ‘I’m sorry and I was wrong.” (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
The 46-year-old admitted that he realized he was wrong about The Rock in hindsight. Although there was heat between the two superstars in the past, it is all water under the bridge now. Recently, Cena and The Rock hugged it out backstage during The Brahma Bull’s shocking return to WWE.
