The 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena talked about his feud with Dwayne Johnson. In a recent interview, he said that he regrets not considering the perspective of The Rock while working with him in the WWE. Both megastars had a highly acclaimed feud in the company from 2011 to 2013. The incredible storyline culminated at WrestleMania.
John Cena has been one of the top names in WWE for the past two decades. However, the former WWE Champion went to pursue a career in Hollywood, just like The Great One did almost 21 years ago. Cena starred in box office hits like Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. He also worked on The Fast Saga and achieved stardom in the industry.
In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, John Cena said he could not understand The Rock’s perspective while working with him in WWE. This created some issues between the two, and they had real-life animosity. The Cenation leader also said that he felt Johnson was lying about his passion for WWE. Cena had the belief that if you loved something, you would never leave.
He, however, realized later that this was shallow of him to say. The former WWE Champion later understood the meaning of growth and how you can still love something but move on to better opportunities. He added, “What a hypocrite I am because I still love WWE and I can’t go all the time. And I just didn’t see that, I was so selfish,”
The 46-year-old also added that, after doing the same things as The Rock, he understood his point of view. John Cena also felt bad about how he thought of The Great One in the past. The two Hollywood stars have made peace and are very close friends. There is no animosity between them whatsoever, and they share great mutual respect.
Dwayne Johnson and John Cena are two of the biggest names in the world. They solidified their names in pro wrestling before stepping foot in the limelight of Hollywood. The iconic feud between Cena and The Rock during WrestleMania 28 & 29 is etched in the hearts of the fans.

The rivalry between John Cena and The Rock
Before WrestleMania 29, The Rock and John Cena had a year-long feud. It culminated in a highly regarded match. The match was set up when The Rock hosted WrestleMania 28 and John Cena wrestled in the main event of the night. Cena battled with The Miz, the WWE Champion at the time.
In 2013, they would meet again at the Grandest Stage of Them All. John Cena challenged for the WWE World Championship after winning the Royal Rumble that year. The Rock held the championship after defeating CM Punk for the title at the Royal Rumble, ending Punk’s historic reign. The two Hollywood stars clashed again in a twice-in-a-lifetime match.
The outcome of the matches was, however, different. The first match in 2012 was won by The Rock and the rematch was won by John Cena. It was truly an iconic moment in sports entertainment. The world saw two legends share the ring and deliver a great match. This would mark a passing of the torch moment for WWE.
