John Cena has been one of the most influential figures in all of WWE and was the face of the company for many years. Cena is known for his incredible in-ring performance and impressive physique. Moreover, he has wonderful microphone skills and is one of the most down-to-earth people. With such incredible skills, Cena used to come out on top in most of his matches.
At SummerSlam 2014, Brock Lesnar halted John Cena’s championship reign by destroying him for his WWE Title. The match between them gave Lesnar a chance to set up his legendary dominant gimmick. The Beast Incarnate mercilessly destroyed John Cena, making it a one-sided match. Besides, Lesnar obliterated The Cenation Leader by delivering nearly 15 German suplexes.
In a recent interview with Sam Roberts, John Cena revealed how the match was put together. Cena said, “If I go out and have a 50/50 match where he just sneaks over, we wasted all that.” Moreover, he said that the idea of a match was put forth by Lesnar himself. The Beast Incarnate had a discussion with Steve Austin over dinner that they had together.
The Cenation Leader agreed with Brock Lesnar and decided to go along with Lesnar’s plan. John Cena stated that thriving on generosity helps one survive in the company. Months before the spectacular event, Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker‘s streak. With momentum of that kind, Lesnar’s loss wouldn’t have made sense.
The match between Cena and Lesnar will forever be the epitome of destruction. The 16-time World Champion stated that even a 50-50 match between them would have wasted Lesnar’s momentum. Brock Lesnar ended the streak of The Undertaker, therefore, Cena believed it was crucial for Lesnar to win.

Even though he had a legendary career, John Cena didn’t make it to the top overnight. Just like other superstars, in his initial days, he was treated as a newbie to enhance other wrestlers. Even after WWE gave him opportunities, Cena was unable to capitalize on them.
During a podcast on NotSam Wrestling, The Champ revealed that WWE had nearly released him from the company if not for the European tour. He said that the company was unhappy with his poor performance. However, they thought of giving him one last chance to prove his ability.
His scariest moment came around the time when WWE planned to release wrestlers. The Stamford-based company made winter and spring cuts. However, he said that the European tour in the fall season saved his career. Eventually, it turned out to be a great decision for the company, as he became the next face of WWE.
