John Cena has been crowned world champion a remarkable 16 times, cementing his status as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Despite his incredible achievements, some fans have criticized the leader of the Cenation’s wrestling style over the years. Recently, the Franchise Player shared his thoughts on the Dave Meltzer star rating system.
Cena recently appeared on the 92NY show, where he talked about how he values entertaining the WWE audience as a whole more than individual star ratings. However, he respects the star rating system as a way for wrestlers to gain recognition. Cena emphasized that his priority is to put on a performance that leaves the audience satisfied, even if it means receiving a low star rating from critics.

Cena’s highest-rated match is against CM Punk at Money in the Bank 2011, where he lost. The storyline surrounding this match was exceptional, and the crowd in Chicago was incredibly passionate. The combination of the storyline, crowd reaction, and in-ring action elevated this match to a 5-star rating, making it the Cenation Leader’s only 5-star rated match according to Meltzer’s rating system.
So how do I put this… I am much more concerned when I perform for WWE in how the audience as a whole feels about my performance rather than one individual trying to grade me in a level of stars. Not that it doesn’t matter, because that is a great way for those to try and get equity and try to get noticed.John Cena at 92NY show
As John Cena reaches the later stage of his career, it’s unlikely he’ll engage in high-intensity matches, given his age and movie commitments. The 16-time World Champion often focuses on elevating other talents, like in his recent bout against Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel, where he faced ten devastating Samoan Spikes and lost.
What role will John Cena play at WrestleMania?
Earlier, there were rumors circulating that WWE was trying to secure John Cena’s appearance around WrestleMania. Recently, the 16-time World Champion himself has teased the possibility of appearing at the Grandest Stage of All, fueling speculation among fans about his potential role at the event.

With the Showcase of Immortals just a month away, Cena’s absence from any current storyline or advertising for upcoming shows has sparked speculation that he may be planning a surprise return. In such cases, wrestlers often return for promo segments or special appearances in a match.
There’s speculation that Cena might interfere in the Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes match at WrestleMania, potentially to counter any interference from the Bloodline and face off against The Rock. Additionally, Cena could have some involvement with R-Truth and Judgement Day, as the veteran has been vocal about his admiration for the 16-time World Champion.
