In a recent show, Cena revealed how he quit his job as soon as he got signed with WWE over two decades ago.

While talking to Kevin Hart on his show, Hart to Heart, the 46-year-old spoke about the time when he started working for WWE. At the time, John Cena was working somewhere else, hoping to get a contract with the Stamford-based promotion. Cena revealed that he quit the job the same day he signed a contract with WWE.

The Cenation Leader revealed his shocking salary when he signed in 2000. He said, “My first contract with WWE was $12,000 a year. I quit my job the day I was signed. I think my rent was $1,000 a month. So all my money is now rent.” Needless to say, the Hollywood star started his pro wrestling career with nothing but has reached the top after years of hard work and discipline. After almost 20 years, John Cena’s net worth is over $80 million.

John Cena burst onto the scene in WWE when he faced off against Kurt Angle in 2002. Since then, Cena has won multiple championships in the company. He also won the Royal Rumble in 2008 and 2013, joining an elite list of Rumble winners who have won the match more than once. He said, “When I told my mom, she was like, ‘I hope you’re okay.” Additionally, John Cena said that his father’s reaction meant a lot to him and will always remain special to him. “Oh, my son. This is unreal. It’s going to be great. I can’t believe it,” his father said.
