Johnny Gargano is one of the talented WWE wrestlers in the current lot of the WWE. He is known for his outstanding career as a wrestler on the NXT Brand, where he has been a one-time NXT Champion and one time NXT tag team champion with Ciampa. Johnny Gargano’s work has been praised by the WWE Universe and wrestling pundits, with wrestling Newsletter Observer awarding him the Feud of the year award in 2018 and 2019. Johnny Gargano was released from WWE in December 2021 and choose not to sign a new contract as he wanted to be around to raise his newborn son.

Johnny Gargano returned to WWE in August 22 edition of RAW and his return was a surprise as we saw the crowd pop as soon as he made his way towards the ring. Johnny Gargano made it clear to the crowd regarding who he is, whilst also sharing about his achievements in the WWE and said that he aspires to become the WWE Champion one day. Gargano’s former ally from The Way, Austin Theory interrupted him while giving the promo, only to receive a superkick from Gargano that night.

Johnny Gargano’s return seems to be exciting and fans are happy to see the Former NXT Champion back to WWE. Recently during an interview with Corey Graves on his Podcast After the Bell, Gargano was asked about whether he considered retirement after the release from WWE, to which he replied that he sort of thought about both possibilities and said that he was okay taking off a full year, which allowed him to let his body rest and recover and also let his mind recover and reenergize.

“Yes and no [if I considered retirement]. I gave myself kind of a year. When I left in December, I kind of said, okay, I am content being gone December — I think December 7th might have been my last NXT show — December 7th to December whatever, December-January. I was okay taking off a full year, letting my body rest, letting my body recover but also letting my mind recover and also reenergizing myself.”

At the same interview, Johnny Gargano revealed that he did think of competing for other wrestling promotion but wasn’t ready to comeback as he was enjoying himself. Gargano said that he will always be a wrestling fan at the end of the day and is a complete wrestling nerd.

He stated that he always dreamt of becoming a Intercontinental Champion, a WWE Champion and thought of wrestling at WrestleMania since he was a kid, and all of these things hold much weight for him. Johnny Gargano said that he doesn’t want to be in regret from 20 years down the line and feel that he should have tried for all the things that he dreamt since his childhood.
