“He Actually Saved The Day” Sami Zayn praises Johnny Knoxville for his presence of mind at WrestleMania 38

The Jackass Star and Sami Zayn went one on one at Wrestlemania 38.
Johnny Knoxville and Sami Zayn’s feud was one the most memorable rivalries that I started at Royal Rumble. Knoxville entered the Royal Rumble but was shortly eliminated by Zayn, thus starting their feud. Knoxville would then go on to interfere in a match, costing Zayn his Intercontinental Title. An infuriated Zayn would then challenge the Jackass star for a match at the grandest stage of them all –“Wrestlemania”. To add the heat, Zayn kept it as an “Anything goes match”, which Knoxville accepted and was made official moments later.
Though people were expecting a sturdy squash encounter, the match actually turned out great, with everybody praising Zayn and Knoxville for putting out a great show together. Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin also praised the match recently by saying that it was one of the best matches he had ever seen at Wrestlemania. The props, the storytelling, and the incorporation of the Jackass characters made it more memorable and entertaining. Though, the match went smooth, very few people know the fact that the finish for the match was botched.
Zayn Reveals that Johnny Knoxville saved the botched finish at Wrestlemania 38

The finish involved, the co-actors of Knoxville trapping Zayn into a huge Rattrap and Knoxville pulling its rope off to finally win the match. However, the rope broke before Knoxville had pressed the lever, but the Jackass star did a great job by not letting anyone realize that the rope had already been broken. Sami Zayn in a recent interview on Broken Skull Sessions with Stone Cold discussed the entire incident and praised Knoxville for his presence of mind.
Zayn explained- “You gotta give Johnny Knoxville a lot of respect for this [the mouse trap spot]. I’ll explain because what happened is he pulled the rope and the rope broke. I mean, if he waited even two extra seconds, the finish is dead flat. But he saw it broke and he instantly, earlier in the day I actually saw him talking to his people with the mouse trap thing. He’s like, ‘OK, if it doesn’t go off because you just show me how to do it manually.’ Full marks for not panicking, because that would have killed it right there. He actually saved the day.”
While the fans loved the match, the critics and observers also perceived the match as positive as both Zayn and Knoxville performed par expectations. Would you like to see another encounter between the two, do let us know in the comments?
