Cody Rhodes recently faced off against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. In the end, Cody lost the match and since then, he has been mentioning his loss at each one of his promos.
Fans all around the world expected Cody Rhodes to be the one to finally end The Tribal Chief’s historic title reign. However, Cody came up short in the match and lost to Roman Reigns after multiple interferences from The Bloodline. After his loss, The American Nightmare acknowledged his loss and brought it up pretty often in his promos. Due to this, he was warned by WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash that he would lose most of his fans if he didn’t stop bringing up his Mania loss every once in a while.
Appearing on the Kliq This podcast, WWE legend Kevin Nash talked about how he warned Cody Rhodes that he would lose his fans pretty soon if he didn’t stop whining about his WrestleMania loss to Roman Reigns. Nash said the following on the podcast:
“I know it’s a babyface thing that he wants his pound of flesh, he wants his revenge,” Nash said. “If he keeps making reference to the fact that he didn’t win at WrestleMania, that’s absolutely evident since you don’t have a belt. You don’t have to bring it up every week that you didn’t win at WrestleMania. I get it, people are still with you. Don’t lose them.”
Kevin Nash does raise a valid point. While Cody Rhodes delivers exceptionally good promos, his habit of mentioning his Mania loss might put off his fans after a few more mentions. If WWE wants to build him up for a rematch against Roman Reigns, Rhodes must rise from the bottom again, without looking back at his previous losses, and eventually finish what he started with The Tribal Chief.
What’s next for Cody Rhodes?

After his devastating loss at WrestleMania 39, fans naturally assumed that he would face Reigns in a rematch at Backlash. However, in a shocking turn of events, WWE had Brock Lesnar of all people, turn against Cody on the RAW after WrestleMania, leading to a match between the two at Backlash.
If WWE is building Cody Rhodes to be the one to dethrone The Tribal Chief, then they would build him up from ground zero again, facing multiple obstacles in his way before finally defeating the main boss. And Rhodes has his biggest obstacle at Backlash when he faces Brock Lesnar in a grudge match. It would definitely be interesting to see how things play out between the two.
