WWE’s injury woes worsen as Kevin Owens believed to have wrestled with a fractured foot at the Royal Rumble: Reports
The injury bug has now stung The Prizefighter.
Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble [via- Wrestle Ops on X]
A few days ago, the fans were brimming with excitement about how this year’s WrestleMania could be an all-timer. But it drained out within the blink of an eye. As the fans saw, Kevin Owens locked horns with Logan Paul at the Royal Rumble. The WWE Universe in Tropicana Field was treated to this 15-minute classic. Even though Owens failed to capture the United States Title, the match in itself was everything it needed to be.
However, what’s concerning is an update from Dave Meltzer in which he’s stated that Kevin Owens worked through the entire match with a fractured foot. He sustained it during his showdown against Santos Escobar at SmackDown’s New Year Revolution. There’s no update on whether Kevin will miss weeks of in-ring action. Everyone’s hoping he doesn’t pull a CM Punk to put his WrestleMania hopes in peril.
Speaking of Punk, the entire fanbase was distraught when they learned that The Best in the World tore his triceps during the Men’s Royal Rumble match. A few hours before Raw, the news was making the rounds on social media. And when he opened this week’s show, Punk had a sling on his right arm. A teary-eyed Punk admitted that he’ll miss this year’s WrestleMania.
The case doesn’t seem that messed up for Owens, though. Despite a fractured foot, he delivered a stellar performance last Saturday. Things will become more clear on SmackDown this week. He’s been a great addition to the blue brand ever since getting traded. He may have a major role to play on the WrestleMania card, but he needs to stay healthy for that.
Kevin Owens is not done with Logan Paul
It looks like Kevin Owens is hellbent on obtaining a rematch against Logan Paul. After he lost at the Royal Rumble, The Prizefighter had a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley. Owens said he hopes that Paul knows he’s coming after him.
The 39-year-old even addressed getting caught using a brass knuckle by the referee. Kevin said that there’s a term for that in French that translates to American fist. Further, the French-Canadian alluded to the fact that he was caught using the American fist, probably because he’s a Canuck.
But when Logan used it to dethrone Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel, nobody saw it. Anyway, it seems like WWE is looking to run this match again, potentially at the Elimination Chamber next month. It would be interesting to see if Kevin Owens outmaneuvers The Maverick the next time they get into that ring.
