Kurt Angle had a decent second run in the WWE. During this time, he was involved in backstage roles and wrestled sporadically for the company. Angle was also a part of Ronda Rousey’s WWE debut at WrestleMania 34, where he teamed up with Rousey and defeated the team of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

Because of the anguish caused by the years of nonstop fighting, Angle’s body could not function as well as it once did. Kurt Angle competed at WrestleMania 35 in his last match because of this reason. Angle competed against Baron Corbin in his retirement match, but he lost.

Kurt Angle hoped to fight John Cena in his last match, as he was the one who had started Cena’s career, and so he wanted Cena to end his. Because of some circumstances, the match couldn’t happen, and so Angle had to face Baron Corbin at the event.

During a recent interview with Bill Apter of SK Wrestling, Angle spoke about wrestling one last match. Kurt Angle stated he doesn’t feel like wrestling after having knee replacement surgery. Angle said he is very proud of his career, but if he wrestles one last match, then it will be a tag match, just like Ric Flair. He expressed a desire to wrestle against younger men so that they would adjust to his level and his limitations would not be exposed.

“I don’t think so. I had a knee replacement five months ago. I’m good. I think I’ve had a good enough career that I’m very proud of……But if I did decide to have a wrestling match, it would be against younger guys that could carry me. And I’d make sure that it was a tag match, so I was not exposed.”

The match between Baron Corbin and Kurt Angle at WrestleMania was not up to par. The main reason for the match being mediocre was that Corbin and Angle had faced each other many times before the WrestleMania 35 match, so there was no freshness or uniqueness to it. Even fans weren’t happy with the opponent Angle got at the event and thought that if he was booked to lose, he should’ve lost to someone else instead of Corbin, who he had faced multiple times.

During a recent appearance on Cafe de Rene with Rene Dupree, Angle revealed that Vince McMahon had offered him a match against John Cena. He revealed Vince had told him to wait until WrestleMania 36 if he wanted to fight John Cena. According to Angle, he refused to wait until next year, a decision he regrets now.

“If you wanna wait till next year, I’ll give you John Cena next year.’. I told [him I couldn’t wait another year]. He did give me the option of going another year and wrestling Cena, and I probably shoulda done that looking back.”

The WWE Hall of Famer’s most recent appearance in the WWE was on the August 29th edition of RAW, where he accompanied the Street Profits during their match against the Alpha Academy. He also celebrated the Street Profits’ victory by drinking milk with them. Angle also had a backstage segment with Edge, where the two gave a hilarious callback to their famous backstage comedic segment from 2002 involving posters.
