John Cena is currently a record sixteen-time World Champion in the WWE. He is tied with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, who holds the same prestigious honor. Fans often wonder whether John Cena will officially break the record someday. WWE Veteran Kurt Angle expressed his opinion on this as well during an episode of his podcast.
The Hall of Famer spoke on The Kurt Angle Show, claiming that the Cenation Leader will become a seventeen-time World Champion. “I believe John Cena will be the only 17-time World Champion. I do believe that Randy Orton is going to catch up to him and possibly surpass him,” said the Olympic Gold medalist.
Interestingly, Angle named Randy Orton as a possible name to break the iconic record. Currently, the Viper is out of action due to a back injury sustained last year. John Cena has returned to the WWE for seemingly his last full-time run in the company. Therefore, a final run with a world title is viable.
The Franchise Player last held championship gold in 2017. John Cena defeated AJ Styles in an intense match at that year’s Royal Rumble event to win the WWE Championship. However, it would turn out to be a short-lived reign, as two weeks later, Bray Wyatt captured the title in an Elimination Chamber bout.
Since then, the legend came closest to making history against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021, where he fell short in his pursuit. With Cena being a part-time superstar in WWE currently, it will be interesting to see whether he achieves this historic feat someday.
Seth Rollins spoke about working with John Cena at Superstar Spectacle
Superstar Spectacle turned out to be a joyous night for the Indian fans in the arena. The main event saw the team of John Cena and Seth Rollins take on Imperium members Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser. As expected, the live audience was loud for the 47-year-old veteran.
Seth Rollins recently praised Cena during an appearance on The Bump. First, he claimed that it was a wonderful experience for him in India. The Visionary continued to promulgate the experience by stating that the place was rabid, giving him goosebumps when John Cena’s music hit.
“I truly believe he’s a good friend of mine. He’s a mentor; he’s someone that I appreciate as a friend and as a person. So it was an honor for me to be there and team with him,” Rollins further revealed. Evidently, the World Heavyweight Champion had an unforgettable experience at the event.
