Christian Cage is one of the finest wrestlers ever to set foot in the squared circle. Cage is regarded by many as one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. Christian Cage has been exceptional in the ring, on mic and probably has the best in-ring psychology just like that to his childhood friend and tag team partner Edge.
Cage and Edge have acquired a legendary status in the Tag Team Division, but they have also managed to etch their individual careers in the wrestling world. Although not on the same level as Edge and slightly lower in comparison to Edge in terms of being a WWE Superstar, this does not mean that Christian did not deserve what Edge has accomplished in the company; Christian truly deserved everything that the Rated R superstar has accomplished in his WWE career.
Christian Cage was given a push in the WWE and he won the World Heavyweight Championship twice in his career, but his push came very late in his career and he was robbed of a decent title run with his combined reign of only 32 days.
Many wrestlers see Cage as one of the best to ever grace the squared circle, and Kurt recently expressed his admiration for Cage on the newest episode of the Kurt Angle Podcast. He referred to Cage as one of the most underappreciated wrestlers of all time, claiming that he was constantly under the shadow of Edge. Angle said Christian Cage was better than all of them at putting on good matches.
“[Christian Cage] is the most underrated wrestler of all time. He never gets the credit that he deserves. He’s a superstar, don’t get me wrong. But he’s always been in the shadow of Edge, and he’s actually just as good as Edge, and he’s actually better than all of us at putting matches together. “
Why did Christian Cage depart from WWE in 2021?
Christian Cage was cleared to wrestle in 2020, and returned to the WWE the same year, after which he had a brief rivalry with Randy Orton and didn’t much appear in the company that year.
Following that, he returned to the company as a surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble, where he hugged his childhood friend Edge during the match. It was marked as one of the best moments of the match and fans loved every bit of the E & C reunion in the ring.
Christian left WWE shortly thereafter and has joined AEW since then. Cage left WWE as he wanted to wrestle full time and WWE wanted him as a part-timer in the company.
On the other hand, WWE Creative had nothing for Christian Cage, and so that might be the reason he left the company. Cage might be sticking with AEW for the rest of his career now, but he surely deserves a place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
