Lacey Evans returned to television programming after giving birth to her daughter. She dropped the “Sassy Southern Belle” gimmick and adapted the Mariner gimmick. However, it failed miserably, and she ended up in a controversy with allegations of copying Sgt. Slaughter’s gimmick.

Throughout her WWE run, the 33-year-old failed to make a name for herself on the main roster. Lacey failed to capture any championships either. Despite WWE repacking her every time, she failed to deliver and make a name for herself.

Lacey Evans returned to WWE a couple of months ago with a new gimmick of the “marine.” However, Kelly Slaughter, the daughter of WWE legend Sgt. Slaughter, claimed that WWE copied her father’s gimmick for Lacey. Both women were involved in a heated exchange of words on social media.

In an interview with Wrestling Epicenter, Kelly expressed that she was upset with Lacey using her father’s gimmick. Furthermore, she added that Lacey’s choice of outfit was also disrespectful. Kelly revealed that WWE wanted Sgt. Slaughter to return to WWE and manage Lacey Evans on screen. However, the WWE legend denied that.

Moreover, the daughter of the WWE veteran said that using the military gimmick was fine. However, she believes that giving her the Cobra Clutch as a finishing maneuver was disrespectful to Sgt. Slaughter. During her recent run, Evans battled some of the prominent stars in WWE, including Charlotte Flair, Zelina Vega, and Rhea Ripley.

The highlight of Lacey Evans’ gimmick was her military career. She even changed her ring gear, which was similar to the ring gear of Sgt. Slaughter. It later turned into a verbal conflict between Kelly and Evans. Moreover, Sgt. Slaughter also dived into it, saying WWE should have asked for his permission in order to use his move and gimmick.
