Dutch Mantel and "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt is one of the scariest WWE wrestlers of all time. He was released from WWE in July 2021 after being with the company for 12 years. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt was one of the prominent superstars of the WWE and was praised by the WWE Universe for his promos and in-ring ability. The Fiend was very athletic for his size and had a decent pacing in the ring. Wyatt was incredibly inventive with his characters and had a strong connection with the audience.
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt made his WWE debut in 2010 on an episode of NXT in a tag team match alongside Cody Rhodes and faced MVP and Percy Watson, which they lost. Wyatt was also a part of Nexus in 2010 but thereafter his contract expired and he was released from WWE. Bray Wyatt returned to WWE’s developmental territory FCW and performed there for two years. Wyatt returned to WWE in 2012 in a new repackaged character as Bray Wyatt and the leader of the “Wyatt Family”, the character received wide praise from fans and soon he became a top card wrestler in WWE. He became a 1-time WWE Champion during his “Wyatt family leader” gimmick.

Bray Wyatt debuted with “The Fiend” character in 2019
After taking a hiatus in August 2018, Bray Wyatt returned to WWE in July 2019 with a new gimmick, unveiling The Fiend, a horror-themed persona. The Fiend, who was portrayed as person having multiple personality disorder and alternated between his nice side as a Mr. Rogers type character as a children’s television broadcaster and his evil side as a monstrous beastly clown. He then went on to form an alliance with Alexa Bliss, who also shown to be suffering from the same disorder.
“The Fiend” was defeated at WrestleMania 37 by Randy Orton after a distraction from Alexa Bliss. The following week on RAW Alexa declared that she no longer needed him and had found a new friend in a doll named Lilly. The Fiend’s Firefly Fun House character made a comeback and expressed his desire for a new beginning. This marked the last appearance of the Fiend on WWE as his contract would expire in July.
Dutch Mantel, in a recent interview with Smack Talk, Mantel said that “The Fiend” persona didn’t appeal him and he thinks that Bray Wyatt didn’t get over with it. Mantel also said that he didn’t care about how Bray Wyatt was performing with “The Fiend” gimmick and that it was always his bathroom break when “The Fiend” would come over in the arena or on TV.
“The Fiend did nothing for me. I don’t get it and I don’t think he ever got over, I don’t think Bray Wyatt ever got over, at all. Where would I come in there? I didn’t give a sh*t, what he was doing. That was my bathroom break.”
Bray Wyatt became a 2-time Universal Champion during his “The Fiend” persona.
