Former AEW Superstar CM Punk was fired from the company by Tony Khan a couple of months ago. He has been a free agent ever since. His departure from AEW was due to his backstage confrontation with Jack Perry at All In. Recently, former WWE superstar Mark Henry stated the approach used by CM Punk while dealing with young talents during his time at AEW.
Mark Henry was a guest on the Reality of Wrestling podcast with Booker T. Henry praised the Second City Saint and revealed that the latter played a huge role in uplifting young talents on the roster. The former World Champion spoke about CM Punk’s mentality and younger talent could perceive it to be wrong.
“It’s that old-school mentality, you know, and that old-school mentality rubs young people the wrong way. Young people call you ‘a boomer’ or they say you’re old. Outdated, or whatever, and some people are stuck in their ways,” said Henry while speaking about CM Punk.
Booker T revealed that he believed that CM Punk was going to be the one who would carry on the AEW company. Responding to this, Mark Henry said that the young talent in AEW and CM Punk’s conviction faced a conflict while working at All Elite Wrestling.
“I like conviction; I like somebody who can stand by their guns, and they can debate with you on the fact that this is why being old will save your life. I know better, I experienced it, I went through the fire, I feel like Punk’s delivery of some of that conviction fell on de*f ears,” Mark Henry stated on Booker T’s podcast. (H/T Ringside News)
