Over 1200 days into his world title reign in WWE, Roman Reigns has started to disgruntle the fans to the point where a vast majority of them are craving his downfall. Things were sailing smoothly until he morphed into a part-timer back in the fall of 2022. And today, his appearances have nosedived even further, engendering obstreperous reactions all around.
However, Reigns’ paltry working schedule might not be his choice but the need of the hour. As pointed out by incumbent AEW talent scout Mark Henry on Busted Open Radio, Roman had been plagued with leukemia in the past. And because of the medicinal intake, The Tribal Chief is believed to avoid public gatherings.
He can’t even be around all the time, crowds and stuff, because [of] the medicine that he takes. He needs rest. I have a friend that had leukemia. And when we’re in the car, he wears a mask just not to breathe the air.Mark Henry via Busted Open Radio
Henry cited the example of one of his friends who had leukemia. Whenever the two met, Mark’s friend always used to wear a face mask, precluding his aerial intake from the environment. Not only that, the WWE HOF’er brought his daughter into the mix. He explained how she easily catches infections due to Crohn’s disease.
In the same way, he meant to underscore a major factor in Roman Reigns’ previous battles with leukemia, which might have actually forced him to reduce performing in front of packed crowds that often. The fans have been extremely upset at Reigns for the number of title defenses he’s had since WrestleMania 39. To be precise, they come out as a brace.
Roman Reigns to defend his title at the Royal Rumble
Finally, for the first time since Crown Jewel in November, Roman Reigns will put his title on the line later this month. Following a tumultuous turn of events on SmackDown, he’s booked for a Fatal 4-way match at the Royal Rumble. The Head of the Table now has to combat the odds of LA Knight, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles.
With everything Roman and his Bloodline have done to those three men, Reigns is in for a long night on January 27. If he someone manages to get past it, his cousin and Hollywood sensation Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is seemingly waiting in the wings to finally do that dream match.
There’s been unbridled speculation about where their match should actually happen. Some reports suggest that it’s going to unfold at the Elimination Chamber in Australia, as the tourism officials were pushing for it. However, WWE fans believe that Rock vs. Reigns shouldn’t be an exhibition match but needs to headline WrestleMania.
