Matt Cardona had a decent singles career during his time in the WWE, where he was a one-time Intercontinental Champion and one-time United States Champion. Cardona’s gimmick was the arrogant long island iced-Z named Zack Ryder, who frequently used the catchphrases “Woo Woo Woo” and “You Know It.”
Cardona was a part of WWE for 15 years and was released in 2020 due to budget cuts stemming from COVID-19. Recently, many rumors have been making the rounds about his return to the WWE. Cardona, too, recently hinted at his return to the company by posting an old picture of himself with Triple H on social media.
According to a report by Slice Wrestling, Matt Cardona and WWE are very close to finalizing the deal, which would see him return to WWE very soon.
The report also says that the return is being kept secret and will happen at a time so that he can be present at WrestleMania 39. The report also said that Cody Rhodes, a good friend of Matt in real life, is reportedly playing a vital role in Cardona’s return to the company.

Matt Cardona doesn’t feel his return would confuse people

After his release from the WWE, Matt Cardona spent a year at the AEW and currently wrestles for three wrestling promotions: the AEW, the NWA, and Game Changer Wrestling. Cardona has also been the NWA World Heavyweight Champion once.
Cardona claimed in a recent interview with Steve Fall for WrestlingNews.co that if he re-joins WWE, fans won’t have any trouble recognizing him because the entire wrestling industry is familiar with him. He claimed everyone recognized Scott Hall when he returned in 2002 under his real name and not as Scott Hall.
“No. Maybe for some people, but I think the whole wrestling community is smarter. I mean, look at it this way: when Scott Hall came back as Scott Hall in 2002, they got it. And if they didn’t know, they’ll find out real soon.”
