Matt Riddle was among the dozen superstars released by WWE after it merged with the UFC in September. The Original Bro had reportedly “burned through many chances,” and the JFK Airport incident might’ve been the final straw. Recently, he detailed the one major regret about his WWE run.
While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Riddle revealed he would’ve finished his story with Randy Orton. The pair were arguably the most popular act on TV in 2022. However, The Viper’s injury led to several plans being scrapped, leaving the former US Champion as a singles act. Riddle acknowledged how much negative press he receives due to his off-screen behavior and relationships.

I wish I could've finished the story with Randy, but I messed up. There's always a dumb article written about me, I'm getting porn stars pregnant, it's whatever dude. I get it. For WWE, I'm a PR nightmare.Matt Riddle on his WWE release
Therefore, he understood why his presence in WWE would’ve affected its image. Since leaving the Stamford-based promotion, Matt Riddle has openly expressed his thoughts on his run. Most notably, the 38-year-old claimed that he was the favorite to win the Royal Rumble and Money In The Bank ladder matches in 2022.
Needless to say, a Riddle vs. Orton rivalry looked like a major possibility during RK-Bro’s tag team run. The Apex Predator was clearly enjoying teaming with The Original Bro. Riddle is currently gearing up to face Hiroshi Tanahashi in his NJPW debut. Meanwhile, Orton will be competing inside the Elimination Chamber in a No. 1 contender match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Matt Riddle confirms that he’s had talks with TNA
After his release from WWE, Matt Riddle became one of the most sought-after free agents in wrestling. While he’s had a controversial past, the 38-year-old does possess decent in-ring skills. The Original Bro recently worked with MLW and is close to competing for NJPW. In addition to that, Riddle confirmed that he was in talks to compete in TNA.

During an appearance on the Sunday Nights Main Event podcast, the controversial superstar opened up about his future plans. First, he revealed how the constant traveling during his WWE run exhausted him. As such, Riddle stated that he was in talks with other promotions after his release from the company, one of them being Total Nonstop Action (TNA).
I talked to some places. I’ve talked to TNA, I’ve worked with New Japan and MLW. You do film for TV, but it’s not the same as Monday Night Raw, three hours live, anything can happen, people are changing the scriptMatt Riddle on SNME (H/T: Ringside News)
The former US Champion’s 90-day non-compete ended in December. It will be interesting to see whether Matt Riddle follows a similar path to Mustafa Ali or if he ends up exclusively signing with another wrestling promotion.
