Mercedes Mone explicitly teases her WWE return at the Royal Rumble amid AEW debut rumors
Is the former Sasha Banks on her way back to WWE?

As it struck midnight, Mercedes Mone turned 32. That takes nothing away from the fact that she’s had the wrestling media on a chokehold over the past month or so. Despite the reports claiming that Mone is AEW-bound, some in WWE aren’t ruling out the possibility of seeing the former Sasha Banks pop up tomorrow at the Royal Rumble. And to help that cause, The Boss just dropped a major clue.
A fan on X wished The Mandalorian actress on her birthday and said that he couldn’t wait to see her on Saturday, the day of the Royal Rumble. Nothing was amiss until Mercedes liked it. As soon as she did, it reignited the pervasive speculation about her whereabouts tomorrow night. Yesterday, as pointed out by some fans on X, Mercedes Mone trained with Bayley and Tyler Breeze. It could mean nothing or something that would spark headlines a few hours from now.
Moreover, WWE recently dropped custom-made merchandise for Mone and her former tag team partner, Naomi. A similar turn of events also happened in the lead-up to CM Punk’s groundbreaking return at Survivor Series. If WWE pulls it off again, it could be a major kick in the teeth for Tony Khan and AEW. The latter are believed to be the odds-on favorites to land Mercedes in their company.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has reiterated that, despite continuing delays, Mone is headed to AEW. However, with every passing Wednesday, on which Dynamite airs, there’s a growing trepidation among AEW fans as to whether they will end up losing The Blueprint to WWE. Odds are stacked against Triple H to pull a rabbit out of his hat this Saturday.
Does Bayley think she’ll get to wrestle Mercedes Mone again?
Former Women’s Champion Bayley recently sat down for a lengthy conversation with Sports Illustrated. And The Role Model was asked whether she believes she’d ever get into that ring with her best friend, Mercedes Mone.
The Damage CTRL leader responded that she and Mercedes will always be destined for one more match. Further, the 34-year-old said she doesn’t have chemistry with anyone else like she does with Banks. Admittedly, Bayley said Mone has also taught her a lot and called The Boss her Michael Jordan.

The two women have been soulmates since the early days. Bayley was also there to bestow her support on Mone when she debuted for NJPW last year in January. It would be interesting to see if they reunite in a WWE ring.
