The story of Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, and the Bloodline has garnered a lot of praise recently from the fans. Therefore, it is natural for a WWE official like Michael Cole to be completely enamored by the story as well. The Voice of WWE echoed the opinions of millions in a recent conversation with his former co-commentator, Pat McAfee.

In a recent episode of the Pat McAfee show, Michael Cole disclosed that this year’s Royal Rumble registered record numbers for the company. According to the SmackDown commentator, this is because of the great stories WWE has been running recently. The prime example he cites was of the Bloodline and Sami Zayn story which he calls the best of the last decade.

Michael Cole said, “This Roman Reigns-Kevin Owens-Bloodline-Sami Zayn storyline is probably the best television we’ve done in a decade and it’s Emmy-worthy in many ways… The last 15 minutes of the event Saturday night, Pat, we didn’t say a word. We did not utter a sound for the last 15 minutes of that show. When Sami Zayn turned on Roman Reigns and hit him with the chair? That pop was enormous.”

While talking about Pat McAfee’s return at Royal Rumble, Cole confessed that the reaction at the event was genuine. The SmackDown commentator admitted that, due to his role, he gets to know all the ins and outs of the business more often than not. However, this was the first time he had been completely out of the loop in more than a decade.

Pat McAfee talked about how the original plans were for him to participate in the Royal Rumble match. In the end, though, he decided against it, as he couldn’t get in proper shape for an in-ring return. Thus, WWE decided to make a broadcasting return for McAfee instead, which turned out to be a great surprise for everyone. The College Gameday presenter admitted that he had flight issues on the day of the Rumble. He thanked Kevin Dunn, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and Bruce Prichard for helping him out with all his issues and keeping his return a secret till the end.
