There’s something about the obsession of the UFC fighters with The Undertaker‘s theme song. Yesterday, at the UFC 299 event, debutant Michael “Venom” Page emerged from the darkness. He leveraged Taker’s iconic gong to leave an indelible mark in his first dance to the octagon under UFC. He ousted a much-experienced Kevin Holland via a unanimous decision. The latter was outfoxed by the 170 pounder from London.
On the heels of an impressive 22-2 MMA record, Page wasn’t definitely a neophyte. After spending almost a decade in Bellator MMA, the Venom made the switch to the Dana White-owned promotion. Needless to say, despite donning unorthodox nuances against Holland, the English kickboxer came out on top. And a part of that credit must go to The Undertaker, or maybe not.
This is not the first time a UFC name has come out to The Phenom’s battle hymn. Back in July 2022, the then-UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya did the same. Adesanya donned a black hat and an urn that had Jared Cannonier‘s name on it. The event, UFC 276, staged at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, was also attended by former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, CCO Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon.
Undertaker, a UFC admirer himself, was spotted in Saudi Arabia alongside Vince McMahon for Tyson Fury‘s fight against Francis Ngannou. That was in October 2023, and McMahon was sporting a cane for his mobility. Vince is currently in deep waters owing to the recent se*ual trafficking allegations. As for The Undertaker, he’s enjoying his life post-retirement.
Multiple WWE Champions were in attendance at UFC 299
A lot of WWE names were in attendance at UFC 299 in Miami. Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and her fiancé, Buddy Mathews, graced the occasion. Rhea was recently spotted alongside Damian Priest in Dominik Mysterio’s wedding rituals as well.
Further, United States Champion Logan Paul and KSI also paid a visit to the Kaseya Center. The Maverick was in the same frame as YouTube sensation Mr. Beast. The trend just keeps on growing. Ever since WWE and the UFC were brought under the same umbrella by TKO, crossovers have been frequent.
A few weeks ago, Michael Chandler called out Conor McGregor on an episode of Raw. The former cited that he has unfinished business with The Notorious One.
