He has been appearing on WWE programming regularly lately. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley revealed the conversation he had with CM Punk just after he left WWE in 2014.

On WWE’s The Bump show, Mick Foley divulged that Punk told him that he was leaving the company in order to earn respect. He added that he and the Straight Edge Superstar were close back then, and Punk was emotional during the time. Furthermore, The Deranged One praised Punk for achieving what he believed while leaving WWE in 2014.

He said, ‘I’ve realized the only way to really make it there, to earn your respect, is to go somewhere else, and then come back.’ He did. It was what, nine years ago? Ten years next month. He’s bigger than ever. No denial of his talent, and that he is going to raise people.
