WWE Superstar Becky Lynch recently began a feud with Tiffany Stratton on NXT. She eventually captured the NXT Women’s Championship from the latter on the September 12 edition of NXT. Former WWE Divas Champion Mickie James sheds light on why making Lynch win the brand’s top prize was a good decision.
The WWE veteran spoke on a recent episode of the “Busted Radio Open.” She elucidates why Becky Lynch winning the NXT Women’s Championship was indeed the right call. James believes that putting the strap on The Man would bring more viewership to NXT. Her popularity will be immensely beneficial to catapulting the Gold brand.
The five-time Women’s Champion describes Lynch capturing the title off Stratton as “the perfect scenario.” She further added that having a seasoned star like Becky on NXT will help out the up-and-coming talents of the developmental brand who can get in the ring with her.
Mickie James highly praised this move calling it a money-making decision. She said, “To now have one of your biggest stars on television, period, to be your Women’s Champion at NXT. The eyeballs that’s going to put on the product, the matches now that they can have […] I just think it’s money all the way around.” (H/T Wrestle Inc.)
Big Time Becks consolidated her star power as NXT scored an average of 850k viewers. It was indeed a huge jump from last week’s 673k. Her match with Tiffany Stratton peaked with 1.06 million viewers in the 8-minute overrun. This epitomizes Becky Lynch’s star power.
