Muhammad Ali set to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame 2024

There is a month left until we witness WrestleMania 40. The build towards the Magnus Opus event of WWE is happening and is being equally hyped. Another ceremony that will precede Mania is the Hall of Fame ceremony in 2024. The breaking news revolves around that, as WWE has announced The Greatest Muhammad Ali will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

One of the most influential figures in the sports industry, Ali is often stated to be The Greatest athlete of all time. Ali’s accolades include becoming a three-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion along with an Olympic Gold Medal. Ali will be posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 5, 2024.

WWE has no direct relationship with the boxing champion, but a Hall of Fame induction is their way of paying tribute to him. However, Ali did step into the squared circle to fight the Japanese wrestling legend, Antonio Inoki at ‘The War of the Worlds’ at Budokan Hall in Tokyo. In the buildup to that match, he confronted Gorilla Monsoon at the Philadelphia Arena. This short-lived wrestling appearance comes back full circle when he gets inducted into the Hall of Fame in the City of Brotherly Love.

His major appearance in WWF happened as a guest referee at WrestleMania 1 at Madison Square Garden. The former Cassius Clay was an official alongside Pat Patterson in the main event. Hulk Hogan and Mr. T squared off against “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Ali showed his boxing abilities at a point when he punched Piper to bring back the match on track.

Hall of Fame Class of 2024 inductions so far

The first induction for the Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was The Wise Man, Paul Heyman. Last Monday, WWE kicked off their announcements for Hall of Fame inductions, which will span over a few weeks. The legendary career of Heyman has put him in this honorary position to receive the induction in Philadelphia.

Next up was Bull Nakano, who has been the pioneer of women’s wrestling ever since the 1990s. Her charismatic presence had the fans on the edge of their seats. After the announcement, Triple H took to X to write a few lines about the Japanese wrestling legend in her honor.

The most recent induction to the Hall of Fame was of The U.S. Express tag team. The former two-time World Tag Team Champions include Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham. Rotunda, the father of the late Bray Wyatt, is receiving the honor for the first time. Windham is getting inducted for the second time, coming from the Four Horsemen’s member induction back in 2012.
