The MVP of WWE for the last six years, and it’s not Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns unified the WWE and the Universal championship at Wrestlemania this year in the biggest Wrestlemania match of all time by beating the Beast Brock Lesnar. He is now the longest-reigning world champion, holding the Universal Championship for over 500 years. It’s a no brainer that anyone would guess that the head of the table Roman Reigns has been the MVP of WWE, but to everyone’s surprise, that isn’t the case. In fact, it’s the phenomenal one AJ Styles who has been the real MVP.
AJ Styles has been ‘the guy’ of WWE for the last six years

AJ Styles has more than gained the moniker of “WWE guy” since signing with the business in 2016. For as much time as he invested piling up laurels in virtually every promotion around the world before joining the organisation, he has more than achieved it since signing in 2016. He’s also become an essential core for Vince McMahon and his team, as well as a low-key MVP of WWE programming.
That’s why the news that Styles will remain with WWE for the foreseeable future, as reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, came as such a relief to so many disgruntled WWE fans. With how deemphasized Styles has been over the last year or two, it’s easy for fans to overlook his relevance to WWE at the present, but that’s only because the business hierarchy considers him bulletproof. He thrives in almost any role, whether it’s face or heel, tag team or singles.
Only a select handful of WWE Superstars nowadays can be booked in such a fashion as he has and still keep their popularity. He went from losing to Omos as a partner at the start of 2022 and being defeated by Madcap Moss in the men’s Royal Rumble match to facing Edge in a high-profile WrestleMania 38 encounter. That speaks to Styles’ ability to be a once-in-a-lifetime talent as well as his status as the main event regular.
Can Styles beat Roman Reigns for World Championship?

Despite holding the intercontinental and United States championship, there’s a tale waiting to be told with him seeking the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for one final run. Roman Reigns is one of the only opponents, Styles has never been able to defeat. Apart from winning the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank, there isn’t anything he hasn’t accomplished in WWE.
Hence, Styles going on after the top titles in the company makes complete sense as Roman Reigns has gotten over most of the greatest in WWE. Styles dethroning Roman seems unlikely, but the show the two future Hall of Famers would put would definitely grab millions of eyes worldwide.
