Natalie Katherine Neidhart-Wilson well known around the wrestling as Natalya is a former WWE Divas Champion and daughter of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Natalya is a third generational wrestler and is the first female to do so. With wrestling in her blood and the wrestling great like Bret Hart as her inspiration she started training in the Hart family “Dungeon” under her uncles. Natalya got the first taste of professional wrestling when she worked as an ring announcer in a promotion working under Eric Bischoff.
Natalya made her professional wrestling debut in 2003 at Stampede Wrestling which was Hart Family’s own promotion. Natalya with the intention of gaining experience and improving her wrestling skills started touring the world while wrestling in countries like England and Japan. During her travels around the world she won Stampede Women’s Pacific Champion, SuperGirls Championship. After spending 4 years on the independent circuit she was offered a contract by WWE a which she signed in 2007.
Signed under the initial developmental contract Natalya found herself for promotions like Deep South Wrestling, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling which were WWE’s developmental territories at the time. After spending a year in these territories she made her debut on the WWE main roster in helping Victoria beat up McCool and Cherry which established her as heel.
Natalya was a mainstay of the Total Divas Show
Natalya during her long career in WWE has established herself as one of the best female wrestlers in the company and in the world as well managing to win the WWE Women’s Championship and Women’s Tag Team Championship in the process.
In 2013 she starred in a reality show Total Divas which shed light on the lives of the female wrestlers in WWE. The show in its first season had shown her getting married to TJ Wilson and through out the 9 season journey of the show it reflected in the personal lives. In one such episode of Total Divas it was shown that she was telling her fellow wrestlers about how she was approached by a Hollywood actor to play a role in a movie.
It was revealed that the actor was Jason Mamoa who had offered her a role in the movie Wrestler 2. Natalya following the episode posted on social media that she was in fact ‘catfished’ by a imposter of Jason Mamoa who had offered her the role. The Former WWE Divas Champion also clarified that in tweet so that the wrestling fans would also get the idea of what had actually happened.
The Wrestler was one of the best wrestling movies that was ever made and was appreciated by wrestling and non wrestling fans from all over the world. So a call to star in sequel of a popular movie would have had anyone excited including Natalya.
Natalya also stated that this incident was a favourite of Sonya Deville and she always insists on recalling the story. Natalya recently lost to Ronda Rousey at MITB.
