“I am the root of greatness in the WWE women’s division” – Natalya reveals the secret role she played behind the success of contemporary female wrestlers
Natalya
Before dissecting what Natalya had to say, let us have a word on something related. People always remember those who win titles. Be it WWE or any other sport, athletes, especially champions are remembered for the matches they win. Amid such praise, it is quite natural for people to forget the opponents they fought. Their opponents are the ones who made the champions winners of their bouts in the first place.
Recently, WWE superstar Natalya had something similar to say during her interview. The 40-year-old wrestler had been a significant part of the WWE Women’s roster for the last 14 consecutive years. She has won multiple accolades and championships during this period, establishing herself as one of the most successful Divas in contemporary WWE.
And she also said that all the currently successful wrestlers in the organization have one thing in common. The commonality is that each of them has wrestled Natalya.
The following are the exact wordings of Natalya’s statement, “I believe that I am at the root of greatness in the women’s division in the WWE. Every woman that has done really great things in WWE, with the exception of Bianca because Bianca … these women have started working with me. Like Charlotte Flair, for example, you know, I had a match with her in 2014 when nobody believed in her … I remember having a heart-to-heart with her, saying, ‘The second that I started blazing my own trail in WWE was the second that I started realizing my potential.”
Natalya and her family’s connection with professional wrestling
For those who are new to WWE Universe, Natalya happens to be the first third-generation female wrestler that the organization ever introduced. Her in-ring debut dates back to April 2008. Interestingly, she is not the first wrestler in her family. In fact, her mother happens to be the niece of “The Anvil” Jim Neidhart and “The Hitman” Bret Hart.
Natalya’s first championship title came in 2010 when she defeated Michelle McCool and Layla in a Two on One Handicap match. The 40-year-old’s next encounter is scheduled for Saturday at the Money in the Bank premium event, where she would take on Ronda Rousey for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. The WWE Universe can’t wait for their clash.
