Saraya-Jade Bevis well known around the world of professional wrestling as Paige is the former WWE Divas Champion. Paige had wrestling running in her family as her mother was a professional wrestler and worked in the United Kingdom. The influence of her mother and the whole family owing a wrestling promotion eventually led her to follow a career in wrestling. At the age of 13 she was told to step in for wrestler who had failed to show up which marked her debut in the world of professional wrestling. Her recorded debut came a year later when she teamed up with her mother in their own wrestling promotion.
Paige soon started wrestling all over the world after she mailed her resume to countries in Europe and also to the United States. She during her travels through Europe and united states garnered a a lot of success and also gained a lot of experience and won championship such asHerts and Essex (HEW) Women’s Championship, WAWW British Championship Pro-Wrestling: EVE Champion.,SCW Ladies Championship WAWW Hardcore Championship at a very young age in her career. These titles put a lot of credibility to Paige’s name and soon she became a very sought name in professional wrestling.
Soon after her success on the independent circuit Paige was approached by WWE and signed her in to company. The contract initially saw her move to the developmental territory of WWE which was Florida Championship Wrestling. After a year the FCW was rebranded as NXT by WWE where Paige would have career defining matches against known WWE superstars and other aspiring wrestlers. Paige defeated Emma to become the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion.
Paige had to retire from wrestling due to severe neck injuries
Paige appeared on the Raw after Wrestlemania which marked the official main roster debut for her she interrupted AJ Lee which led to Divas title match between the two. She in shock to all those in presence won the Divas title off AJ and at 21 years became the youngest Divas Champion in WWE history.
Paige appeared on Speaking on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast where she recalled her days in FCW where she was training under the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. She went on to shed light on a embarrassing incident involving herself and the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. Paige during a promo practising session was told to read a love letter to the ‘Head of the Table’ and described the whole incident as embarrassing :
“I was so embarrassed, and then I had to look at him and do this promo, and it was just so bad. The promo the next week, he [Dusty Rhodes] was just like, ‘Okay, baby, here he is again, Leakee, go up there, baby. You’re gonna do another one.’ He was like, ‘Pretend you’re reading a love letter. I wanna see all the emotion in your face, baby.’ So I had to pretend to read a love letter and I was like, ‘Urgh, this is so embarrassing.’ So yeah, that stuff would happen all the time.”
Paige was destined for greatness in WWE but unfortunately her career was cut short due to severe neck injury. Paige recently revealed that her contract with WWE has expired and she might return to in ring action but we will have to wait and see where this happens.
